The idea behind It's Awkward is a great one - that uncomfortable social situation we have all found ourselves in at one point or another in our lives - and is executed with great comic timing by the actors, especially Lyall Brooks who plays the role of awkward man perfectly. The opening scene sets up the premise beautifully and the flash backs help to establish where we are in the greater context of things and the problem faced by the awkward man. There is a sense of anticipation that slowly builds when we realize the situation is going to come to a head and be resolved for once and for all at the final social gathering - and the ending is not quite what the audience expects, but is executed so perfectly that you can't help but laugh at the final predicament faced by Lyall Brook's character! Glad to see this short was runner up in the 2011 Julia Morris Film Festival - highly recommend it.
