Initially the death scene was supposed to be a fight scene but once on set with the hammer it was determined that one shot with the claw end would be more shocking and less difficult to shoot and choreograph. In the end the decision proved wise as filming stayed on schedule and the "kill" got screams from the audience in the premiere as well as at two awards dinners.
