The title of this short sketch basically tells you everything you need to know, Elisabeth Shue announces the winner of the Oscar for Best Actor and its none other than Ving Rhames for his work in Piranha 3D. That's the first joke but what follow is a serious of wonderful randomness as we get loads of jump-cuts through his acceptance speech (and yes it really is Rhames and Shue doing it). So one minute he is hurling shoes at the audience telling them to stand up, then we jump cut to him yelling abuse at Adrien Brody and then suddenly cut to him enjoying a tender kiss with Shue (with her very much under his spell).
None of it makes any sense but the lines are just so wonderfully random and cut together so quickly that they are funnier for their impact. I loved that Rhames did it and that he really went for it – so good to see the wealthy having a sense of humour and in particular celebs sending themselves up. This is a very short little film that is little more than a sketch but it really works because of how totally unexpected it was and how quickly it cuts from one bit to the next. Surprisingly funny
