Someone straighten me out please

Allison's maiden name is Rolen. Why is she seeing Joe's dead grandmother Benoit? She's never met his parents until wedding weekend, how does she recognize dead granny Benoit. Imma rewatch to try to answer my own question.

Goofs
The town of San Luis Obispo is mispronounced by the characters. They pronounce Luis as "loo-wee" but the correct pronunciation is "loo-wiss." Also the town is not on the beach. It is actually approximately 11 miles from the coastal cities adjacent to it.
