In the film, Chase played by Ryan Schwartzman, has a run in and physical altercation with random party-goer played by Derek Haupt. The young party-goer's name is Alex and his aggression is actually motivated by a an entirely separate story line about another couple of characters making their way though that night in Los Angeles. In the end, that part of the story was cut, but the scene where Alex and Chase cross paths survived.
