An unlikely lead character can make for great dramas and comedies; Mr. Magoo is just that character in this hand drawn cartoon of a well known historical story. Mr. Magoo is a near-sighted, ordinary man required to do an extraordinary act. This cartoon was made in a golden age of hand drawn cartoons for television. It is the first episode of an ambitious series called: The Great Adventures of Mr. Magoo. This series is quite different than the everyday adventures of Mr. Magoo set in modern times. And, it is this knowledge of Mr. Magoo in his original series that pushes one to accept the character in this other incarnation, acquire the taste, and suspend belief required to enjoy this story telling. This is one of my favorite cartoon stories and most memorable of the Mr. Magoo cartoon episodes.
