Who else knows the feeling of the motorcycler whilst they pass by the slow-motion paced living humankind? Speed is no addiction as the least devoted ones say. It is the prayer to the wind that holds you in its arms, the sex with the engine you hear and feel in your spirit and the union between the two bodies of yours and the bike. "Wham!" For most they are just over-age family kids who play ducks and drakes with parents' money. For most they know no rules, they just parade on their own. Answering the most frequently asked question "Don't you afraid of death? Or living crippled the rest of your life?" as simple as this: "If I am going to die one day, I prefer the cause of my death coming within such a joy. Everybody has a passion, well that's mine".
There are criterions to be belong to the road culture. You must have your motorbike ready with its tuning and modifications upgraded every once in a while. You should not reject two drag race offers consecutively offered to you. Drag races are your only chance to be recognized. Never enroll in a drag race after placing a bet over valuable things; you are not a gambler. Never bet for money. Drag racers only bet for a night with opponents' girlfriend, opponents' equipments or other emotionally important stuff. They mostly bet for to be participated in a professional touring race. If one wins, the loser raises money to make his opponent find a coach, get a brand team and participate in an official grand prix race.
In Futari Taka, my favourite Japanese cartoon in years after "Genki" and "Future Boy Conan", two motorcyclers Tojou and Savatari get to know each other in such a road culture. Tojou is a grand prix racer and Savatari who beats him in a drag race wanted to become like him; so Tojou promises Savatari that he is going to help him become a grand prix racer like himself. This is the start of a very compelling, dog-eat-dog kind'a journey of the leading character Taka Savatari. Soon with the following episodes, we will be introduced to Savatari's personal and family life, his school life, loves, expectations, problems with mum; with sense of humour and drama, this is an unforgettable and unreplacable cartoon series. It's related to 12+ teenagers with having violence related themes sometimes and a little female nudity. All the girls and women regardless of age are getting caught nude, topless, seen naked from behind; which is okay for a Japanese early-years anime. The drawing of the characters are of same style, a little differences and with good characterizations. Savatari's second girlfriend, the American racer girl Pamela Woods is the most beautiful of all and has very teasing scenes.
There were not many examples of motorcycling in the cartoon series genre; even if there has been, Futari Taka is still among the best and the most important, groundbreaking Japanese cartoon series before modern digital anime. Each episode was a continuation of the previous like a soap opera, and it always keep viewers' curiosity of the unpredictable happenings between episodes. There is a good story here. Really a perfect gem.
