If you thought supermarkets rushed the holidays on us, they’ve got nothing on Tubi. Twelve years later it happens again and Daniel is there again. Both times however the bodies vanish before they can be taken to the morgue leaving Daniel a free, if very troubled man who has taken up permanent residence in Room 1224.

Screenwriter and director Justin P. Lange, previously known for the creepy thrillers, The Dark and The Seventh Day, just upped the eerie ante with his 2022 release, The Visitor. Written by Adam Mason and Simon Boyes, this moody motion picture takes viewers on a dark journey to small-town rural America in the deep south as seen through the eyes of a visitor from London.
Robert Burrows is newly married to a local girl from a long line of ancestral residents of Brier Glen, a sleepy southern town with secrets that run as deep as the oil in the fryer that turns out the chitlins Robert tries in the local pub.
Filmed in and around New Orleans, The Visitor keeps viewers on the edge of their seats with a sinister storyline that’s as scalp-chillingly evil as Rosemary’s Baby.

Trip has barely begun when a conversation about softball and scholarships between Ally and her daughter Samantha takes a horrific turn. The girl starts talking about a mysterious figure, has a meltdown, and then kills herself by tearing her eyes out.
Needless to say, this takes quite a toll on Ally who blames herself. Her husband Michael isn’t the most supportive of partners and she’s soon a shut-in living on booze and pills. Eventually, she falls under the influence of Jan a somewhat unorthodox therapist who gives her a hallucinogenic tea that will allow her to see Samantha again and find closure. Unfortunately, it also means she can see other spirits as well, including the one that pushed her daughter to kill herself.

Chucky is about to kill again.
In a full-length trailer for the Child's Play continuation, we are introduced to the characters who will be stalked by the iconic killer doll.
We meet Jake, the kid who purchases the doll at a neighborhood yard sale, to which we can only say the following:
Biggest. Mistake. Ever.
Thanks to Chucky, Jake quickly becomes iced out by everyone, largely because death follows him everywhere.
That's what happens when you have a killer doll.
Chucky still has the killer wit he's had since the beginning, and the tone of the new series is not teen drama, which is a good thing.
Far too often, horror movies to TV adaptations lose a lot of the horror in favor of teen drama angst, and that's not the correct way to tell this kind of story.

Blend one well-known name with scandal; add an appealing subject. Bake in theatrical visibility and fold in home-friendly pricing. Best served with stale alternatives. With this well-tested recipe for VOD success, the long-delayed “City of Lies” stands out this week.
The troubled 2018 film stars Johnny Depp and Forest Whitaker as Los Angeles detectives investigating the murders of Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. Open Road filed for bankruptcy shortly after it acquired the film. Legal and pandemic issues followed, and then Saban stepped in. A March 19 theater release roused $565,000; two weeks later, it debuted on VOD. It’s a trajectory similar to the one recently enjoyed by the disgraced Armie Hammer, who stars opposite Gary Oldman in another VOD hit, “Crisis.”
Priced at $6.99, “City of Lies” took first place at AppleTV, #4 at GooglePlay (both ranking by number of rentals) and an impressive fourth place at FandangoNow (which lists by revenue earned...

In the new horror flick The Seventh Day (out now via Vertical Entertainment), Guy Pearce plays a veteran Exorcist tasked with training a younger, more naive priest in the ways of demonic possession. Very much “Training Day meets The Exorcist”, it’s a fun little movie elevated by Pearce and co-star Vadhir Derbez, plus cameos by the great Keith David (channeling Max Von Sydow) and Stephen Lang. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to chat with Guy Pearce, who’s…...

In exorcist movies, there is never much new under the black hole sun. The one development in the genre over the last decade has been to see it merge, on occasion, with the haunted-house film — a comfortable enough mashup, though it’s kind of like pairing two pop stars to create a hit single out of their combined demos. If the head-spinning success of “The Exorcism of Emily Rose” (2005), and the resurgence of the exorcist film that it inspired, proved anything, it’s that the tropes of demonic possession — the young victims tied to their beds, their faces gray-blue and mottled with sores; the tauntingly blasphemous devil voice that sounds like Darth Vader as the announcer at a strip club; the priests brandishing their tiny crosses and spewing their “Cast thee out!” liturgical spells — have become the horror equivalent of classic rock. They’re the golden oldies that never change,...

"You need to be willing to put yourself at risk." Vertical Ent. has released another official US trailer for The Seventh Day, a freaky new Australian exorcism thriller from filmmaker Justin P. Lange (The Dark). This looks like many other exorcism thrillers but with a few clever twists, as Guy Pearce plays Father Peter, a renown exorcist training younger priests. He teams up with a rookie priest and takes him out on his first day of training - identifying possession and learning the rites of exorcism. As they plunge deeper into hell on earth, the lines between good and evil blur, and their own demons emerge. With Keith David, Stephen Lang, Robin Bartlett, Heath Freeman, Hannah Alline, Major Dodge, and Vadhir Derbez. This still looks like Training Day with exorcists, which is a pretty cool concept to play around with. Take a look. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Justin P.

Warning: The following contains the kind of spoilers for Tuesday’s penultimate Greenleaf that will leave you screaming “Lord have mercy!” — and not in a praying way.
Early on in Tuesday’s Greenleaf, Bishop did his damnedest to sell Aj on the notion of being saved, promising his grandson that once he let God into his life, he’d flash a smile that was equal in magnificence to “10 Grand Canyons.” But in hopes of making his hard sell come off like a soft one — too late for that, pal — James added that there was, you know, no rush. Except that there was.

Adam Donaghey, a Texas-based producer and film festival co-founder, was arrested in Dallas recently on a charge of sexual assault of a child. He was released from custody on April 28 after posting $25,000 bond.
Publicly available court documents from his April 28 arraignment do not indicate when or where the alleged incident occurred, though the charge applies to an adult accused of assaulting a person 16 or younger. There is no statute of limitations for that charge.
Donaghey did not respond to requests for comment.
Donaghey and his accuser, now in her 20s, have worked together for over a decade, including on several independent films he produced. IndieWire is not naming her out of respect for her privacy.
