I like the bit where they tried to burn a dog and then ate it

I have to admire the commitment to making Holiday as dark as possible. That Peep Show was able to air an episode like this and then keep on going for a bunch more seasons is certainly a testament to the quality of writing and acting found within. I don't think it ever fully topped this half-hour, in terms of being boundary-pushing and provocative, but it certainly sustained a similar kind of energy; at least more than enough.

It's also just great that Peep Show was as popular as it was, even though it's so off-putting and so incredibly awkward in just about every conceivable way. It's squirm-inducing, but also so good.

    Mummy!

I read a review that suggested eating a family dog is not funny, outrageous, it's hilarious (in the context of this show). Comedy does not get any better than this. If you don't find this episode funny you are dead inside.

    • Trivia
A yard of ale is approximately 2 ½ imperial pints (1.4L).
    • Goofs
Whilst explaining to Mark about the death of 'Mummy' Jeremy remarks 'The clutch on that thing!' However when he runs over 'Mummy' you can clearly see that Jeremy is selecting a gear with an automatic gearbox hence the car would have no operational clutch.
    • Quotes

[Jeremy and Mark, with their yards of ale, have joined Aurora and Lucy]

Jeremy Usborne: What can I get you two? How about a foot a wine?

Lucy: Can I get a metre of vodka...

[to Mark, with a flirty look]

Lucy: with an inch of tonic?

Mark Corrigan: [voiceover] Come on, Mark! Turn it on, play the game!

      [to Lucy]

Mark Corrigan: Oh, uh, naughty, you've combined metric and imperial, you might get an interdenominational... you know, from mixing the two measurement systems, a hangover of that kind.

      [voiceover]

Mark Corrigan: Just stay mute, Mark. You're a social freak. Remain in your compound.
