excellent, redone in full in June 1955, one of the 'lost episodes'

I was really enjoying this imaginative and entertaining episode of mistaken identity when it abruptly cut off due to lack of time. Jackie Gleason explained that it had been correctly timed to fit into the alloted time period but that that had happened due to the audience reaction (laughter and applause) slowing things down. I was so disappointed when that happened. This would never happen in my country. Anything that overruns finishes and other programming starts later, or if there is a big delay, programming will be rescheduled to a later date.

I was very happy to see this redone in full in series 3 of what is being called The Lost Episodes, so for anyone who doesn't know that, you can see this in its entirety.

    So imaginative and So Disappointing

A gang boss who is being watched by another gang fears for his life. Unfortunately, Ralph is the spitting image of this guy. They hire him for some phony insurance executive job so he will get bumped off and the real mob guy can escape to South America. But like so many plots with mistaken identity, it causes all kinds of chaos. The sad thing is the episode ran too long and we never got to see the ending.

    • Trivia
The show had to end abruptly because it ran overtime due to so much audience laughter. Jackie Gleason came out the next week to explain what happened at the end, only to end up using the explanation for laughter as the plot of Ralph and his lookalike was so crazy (and funny). This reason seems unlikely as there were no extended periods of laughter, it just seemed the show simply went overtime. Gleason however never actually finished explaining the ending, but it's assumed all went well.
