In Hazard

A beautiful woman is waiting in The Office of an angry Van Der Valk, and explains how her husband is trying to kill her, and that she's being followed by a man daily. Van Der Valk investigates, but all is not as it seems.

A very unique episode, this one really does stand out from the crowd. The usual formula is discarded, and the strong central character is removed. Instead it falls on Arlette to carry out her own investigation, pushing Samson to take her seriously.

I did like the way that Van Der Valk taunted Wim, he really would be the most irritating person to keep tabs on.

Was the early part of this shot on film, it was it my new glasses, it looked very sharp, not so in the latter stages.

Two good performances from Michael Petrovitch and Jan Harvey, but the star of the show had to be Joanna Dunham, she's only been in the show for a series, but the character was often the dinner giver and ego booster, here she gets to play the amateur Detective, she's excellent here.

An unusual episode that features more of Samson and Arlette. All because Van der Valk has gone missing.

He has been lured into a trap when a beautiful woman called Margit tells Van der Valk that she is being followed by a strange man. She is in fact an actress.

Van der Valk ends up being held against his will in a boat, handcuffed to a railing. Arlette is sure that something bad has happened to him.

The reason is that Van Der Valk was supposed to give evidence against a Chinese criminal and this was a ruse to get him out of the courtroom.

Van der Valk is sure that once this is over, he will get killed.

It was nice to see Samson and Arlette working together and Arlette seems to be a better detective than the rest of the Amsterdam police force.

You wouldn't think that all it takes for a major trial to collapse in Holland is for the leading detective to be indisposed.
