Begorrah, bejabers, who's minding the shop?

I've been catching up with this comedy-drama, over 30 yrs after it first aired (don't think I saw it then), and that's due to seeing Just Good Friends recently (2025), which I did see back in the day, at least the first 2 series.

I've reviewed the other episodes of this show, put lots of background on them. This episode ventured to Ireland, cue several bits of splendid Irish character acting support. Jan Francis wasn't in this one ("Spanish holiday") - maybe she was preparing the way to not be in series 4?

One typical plot error/writing weakness had Thomas (Waterman) saying to Pippa that he couldn't go to Ireland, who would run his Kissogram business? Next scene we see them walking along an Irish road, never a mention of how he left the business??!

But they get Lively's problem sorted out, albeit a bit of Irish inbreeding doesn't help. Thomas gets a few romantic scenes, again perhaps looking forward to when Jan Francis (plays Sally of the canal boat firm) steps away from the show. I've already explained that the 2 leads constantly have to have a manufactured spat, to bring in a bit more drama. They can both carry that all off perfectly well, but did JF just run out of patience and not return for series 4??
