After a weak Third Season, the Fourth Season of Smallville is presenting great shows. "Bound" is an excellent episode, showing apparently new destinies to Lex, Lionel, Jason and Lana. I am not sure that Lionel Luthor has really changed and become a good man, while the dark side of Lex Luthor seems to be growing. The situation of Lana Lang and Genevieve is very promising. My vote is nine.
Title (Brazil): "Preso" ("Arrested")
Lex has a one-night stand with a woman whom he doesn't even know. He wakes up with her dead and bloody to his side. Lex finds himself in serious legal trouble as a top suspect of the murder. Clark believes Lex, but realizes that Lex has treated many women badly over his lifetime, and many want revenge. Lex's lawyer initially seems intent on helping Lex get out of the financial trouble, but it turns out that she too is a woman that Lex has treated badly in the past, and eventually takes the side of the woman who is framing Lex.
This episode contributes to the continuous weathering of the Clark-Lex relationship, as Clark realizes that there are many sides of Lex's life which he does not know and has never been told.

- TriviaWhen Shannon reveals her identity to Lex, she says "What's the matter, Lex? Don't you recognize me?" while undoing her hair and removing her glasses. This is a reference to Superman's disguise as Clark Kent, which famously consists of simply slicked-back hair and glasses.
- GoofsWhen Clark tells Chloe about the lead from Lionel regarding Eve's car, the "Daily Planet" that Chloe is holding disappears and reappears between shots.
- Quotes
Lex Luthor: [Clark is standing at the loft window looking at the stars in quiet reflection as Lex appears in the darkness below] I came to say thank you.
[Clark looks at him deifiantly as he steps into the light]
Lex Luthor: I know you were only trying to help me.
Clark Kent: I hope you would have done the same for me.
Lex Luthor: What do you want from me?
Clark Kent: I want you to change.
Lex Luthor: I'm not sure if I can.
Clark Kent: Lex, I realized that there's so much I don't know about you. I mean, what else don't I know about you?
Lex Luthor: You don't know that sometimes I wonder why I keep going. Why I do the things I do. I treated those women terribly Clark. I see that now.
Clark Kent: Well, that's a start.
Lex Luthor: You know when that fire was coming towards me I thought "Good, save the world a lot of grief." But then the fire went out and fate gave me a second chance.
Clark Kent: Lex, the way things have been between us the last few days... I felt your father was being more honest with me than you were. I hated that feeling. I felt like we were enemies.
Lex Luthor: Don't give up on me yet.
