Sgt. Chris Lorenzo: [at murder scene] Sgt. Lorenzo, Mrs. Hollinger. I know this is difficult, but I got a couple questions I'd like to ask.
Claire Hollinger: [sniffs] Okay, I need to talk about it. I'll be all right. I can't believe he's dead.
Sgt. Chris Lorenzo: Why don't you tell me what happened last night?
Claire Hollinger: [sniffs] We were at a fundraiser.
[sniffs]
Claire Hollinger: We danced until dawn for the.. new pediatric wing at the hospital.
Sgt. Chris Lorenzo: So you and your husband were fundraisers?
Claire Hollinger: No. Royce hated public functions. They were my responsibility. That's how we met. I did PR for Hollinger Enterprises.
Sgt. Chris Lorenzo: I thought you said "we"?
Claire Hollinger: I'm sorry. I meant D.J. Martin. He was there too.
Sgt. Chris Lorenzo: Oh, D.J. that played for the Sox D.J. Martin?
[smiles]
Sgt. Chris Lorenzo: Damn!
Claire Hollinger: Royce has been trying to get him to sign this contract for months. When he offered to drive me home, I... thought if I could talk to him alone, I might be able to change his mind. But once we got into the car, he started acting strange.
[Chris nods]
Claire Hollinger: Then, when we pulled up in front of the house... he grabbed me. I tried to push him away, but he got very angry. He said... he said he wanted to do to me what my husband had been doing to him.
Sgt. Chris Lorenzo: He attacked you.
[nods]
Claire Hollinger: He wouldn't let me go. And then all of a sudden the window started exploding.
Sgt. Chris Lorenzo: Your husband, huh?
Claire Hollinger: He had his baseball bat. They were fighting. I didn't know what to do, so I ran inside and dialed 9-1-1. By the time I got back, D.J. was gone, and, uh... Royce...
