One thing aboutt Rugg Williams who comes back every so often as Harriet DeLong's son Eugene Glendon. It seems like every episode he's in, he's associating with some bad folks and always giving Denise Nicholas some grief.
A couple of guys from Tennessee come to town and one of them used to be a resident of Sparta. Both him and his father were known to the police and the son is planning to rob a redneck convenience store owner who did his father some dirt back in the day.
Of course it all goes bad and Rugg Williams is left holding the bag again. Carroll O'Connor might be his best friend, but the racial thing is too much for him.

Heat is one of the greatest shows ever on television. I only discovered it last year. But I don't understand some of their writing and character choices. Eugene Glendon is the main story in this episode. I've never understood his character and it's development. He is plainly a racist and he's always on the wrong side of the law despite being given multiple breaks. Yet his mother has always been law abiding and is a city council woman and his father appears to have been a productive citizen with a managerial job who only made one mistake that landed him in prison. Eugene seems to have grown up in a nice neighborhood so why does he always make the wrong choice? And stupid, risky ones at that. He has a nasty chip on his shoulder that never goes away. As if he's been somehow wronged. I know they wanted to put obstacles in the way of the Harriet and Bill storyline but this character is so unlikable that i think they finally had to stop including him in Harriet's storyline.

- GoofsDuring the lineup, Gillespie asks the victim if there were any more perpetrators standing in the group. This would not take place as each accused suspect is afforded their own individual separate lineup by law.
