The episode dealing with a love triangle

When the episode begins John Munch and Kay Howard investigate on the accidental shooting of an Afro-American teen by his teenage brother which might seem like the last of Munch's problems at the moment as he also has to take a class (only to be kicked out for his finding hypocritical that bartenders should stop people from getting drunk) for having a liquor's license for the bar, and has some pressure by activist Sam Thorne (Joe Morton) for getting guns off the streets. In the meanwhile a feud started between Lewis and Bayliss because they fell in love for Emma Zoole, a designer that is good in designing crime scene models for the attorney's office and has the weird kink of sleeping in a coffin instead of a normal bed, and Bayliss gets turned on by it.

Pembleton is sued by Annabella Wilgis for how he interrogated her in the previous episode and Felton returns home only to find that his former wife disappeared and took the kids with her (something we didn't hoped for in the first place), and has some comfort after discussing about it with Giardello.

One of the usual good episodes in the series thanks to the witty writing, performances by all, hilarious situations with Munch that can't even attend a class and some heart-warming moments towards the end with Felton and Giardello.

    • Trivia
The children's series mentioned are real ones, Romper Room (1953) was on the air for 41 years from 1953-1994, making it the longest running children's television series in the US at the time; that record is currently held by Sesame Street (1969), as of 2024 it has been on the air for 55 years. Munch mentions "Birthday Land with King Twinklehead", which was part of Silver Saddle Roundup (1952) created by Bertram H. Claster, who also created "Romper Room". He also mentions watching Judy Splinters (1948) and says that she won the very first Emmy award in 1949, "she" was Shirley Dinsdale (the host and puppeteer) who won the 1st Primetime Emmy Award for Most Outstanding Television Personality. The series itself was also nominated for Most Popular Television Program for the 1st Primetime Emmy Awards, however it lost to the game show Stump the Stars (1947).
    • Goofs
Munch and Howard don't arrest, cite or even warn the doctor in the free clinic for failing to report that he had a patient with a gunshot wound. All licensed medical professionals, whether they are a doctor, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or a nurse, are required by law to report patients with gunshot and/or knife wounds. Failure to make such a report is a misdemeanor, and any institution or physician who repeatedly violates the mandatory reporting rule risks loosing their license and a more serious felony charge.
