    yeah, Amanda's been written out

Missing for the past two episodes, and now written out of the series, Karen Cellini as replacement for (sigh) the divine European daughter-of-a-princess Catherine Oxenberg. Not gonna miss her. She was an impostor. They never should have done that to us. How could they have replaced absolute perfection that way? Karen had a daunting task, making the viewers forget about the original was just impossible. And let's face it, she couldn't act the part either. Largely uneven performance. Some zing began appearing in temper-flaring-up scenes opposite screen daddy Blake, but this was inconsistent. Maybe if she appeared as somebody else, maybe Karen Cellini might have had some success here, but no, no, no, a thousand times NO!!! not as Amanda Carrington.

New girl Terri Garber doesn't cut it with me either. But, okay, at least she's not an unwelcome replacement for a beloved actress.

As usual, I'm full of praise for Heather Locklear, who remains just absolutely 100% perfect, spot-on, dream-girl de luxe! Enough to set wayward sometimes-gay boy Steven on the straight path!

Yeah, check out the Quotes here on this episode's entry, I am lovingly including the Heather Locklear highlights.

It seems by the way the story is going, that Ted McGinley can start packing for MARRIED WITH CHILDREN. Pity poor ol' Clay Fallmont as he stands there begging Sammy Jo, what a demotion in life, from Heather Locklear to... Marcy Darcy?

    Goof: the phone rings at Delta Rho. Sammy Jo answers. It's Blake, to speak to visitor Alexis. Hallo! How could Blake have known Alexis would be there? Okay, so it's not necessarily an out- and-out full-fledged goof, but watch it, scriptwriters! {okay, I watched again, Blake instructed his secretary to find Alexis wherever she might be}

Joan Collins third episode in a row as a more human Alexis. Meaning no veils and pillbox hats and outlandish gowns. Okay, that fur coat in this episode, I shudder to think how many poor little creatures, vermin or not, went into that creation. But I'm talking about her overall presentation, she seems to be more Joan Collins than wicked evil overly-coiffured Alexis.

Weird, and kinda imposing, Dominique Deveraux looks totally out of place. Fifth wheel real-life recording artist Diahann Carroll. Kinda scary almost. Look at her there teaching Krystina to play the piano. Kinda hulking and burly and wild-eyed. See? Write her out, write her out, why dontcha send her same place as Karen Cellini?

How many fans know that in real life, decades and decades ago, Linda Evans had a crush on John Forsythe when she guest-starred on the TV show in which he starred? And he had the highest regard for her. Making their performance in here all the more real.

Like I always say, the story isn't so important to me. These people are just worth watching. But I'm definitely retracting the stuff I said at the start of the season. By the way, I signed up for Seasons 8 and 9 these past couple of weeks. On order! I think that says it all. DYNASTY might be an oldie, but it is a TV Classic.

Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: It's just that I was all alone, and suddenly there was a flash of lightning, and then the thunder...

Steven Carrington: And you're more afraid of it than Danny is, in spite of your little act back there, I remember.

Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: [little sigh] The night of that big storm when I first came to the mansion, and ended up in your bed.

Steven Carrington: Isn't Clay back at Delta Rho?

Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: No. We had an argument about the annulment and he left in a huff.

Steven Carrington: Oh. I'm sorry. I was hoping you two could work it out.

Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: [nods, and then thunder claps, startling her] Uh... this is dumb, I should just get going.

Steven Carrington: Wait a minute. You'll just go home, and be afraid all over again. You can stay here. Danny invited you, and now I'm inviting you. You can sleep in my bed, I'll take the couch.

Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: Steven, thank you, but I can't.

Steven Carrington: Wait a minute. Just... take your coat off, and I'll go get a pair of my pajamas. No argument, okay?

Sammy Jo Dean Carrington: [nods] Okay.

[he turns to go get the pajamas, and she looks very happy to stay over]
