As we head towards the final few stories of the final series. This is a slightly comedic episode with an ironic ending.
Harold Tovey (Kenneth Cope) is the dull henpecked husband who liked to read crime stories with a brassy wife Margaret (Pat Ashton.) He was due to go on holiday but his flight was cancelled.
When he returned home, he catches Margaret hanging around gangster Tony Kinsley (Paul Darrow.)
In a pique of anger and frustration, Harold took the money that Kinsley had stashed from a recent robbery. He then lived the life of a plush businessman in a top hotel suite after buying a smart suit, dark glasses and a wig.
He even bumped into Margaret and Tony at a casino. Harold had taken out an escort there.
The bad news for Tony Kinsley is that the stolen notes were marked. The police trace them to the casino that Tony and his cohorts were seen hanging about. It was Harold who used the money for gambling.
By 1976 the show was regarded as old hat, Jack Warner suffered from ill health and even had problems standing up.
Jackpot showed it could still add a bit of variety. Although that hotel suite did not look so auspicious.
An early appearance from Paul Darrow and even then he was chewing up the scenery.
