    The Necklace

Host John Newland takes a more active approach to the episode this time, as he interacts with the cast starring Sean McClory as a washed up ladies man who has been driven to drink by his refusal to believe the supernatural truth regarding a murderous necklace that killed first his older woman lover, then later her female companion who inherited it, and finally winding up on his preferred lover's neck, strangling her too, though of course few believe him. He tells Newland all about it, but can this incredible account be believed? Below average episode is mostly dull and obvious, with paltry F/X and uninvolving story and characters.

    Necklace of evil.

Each episode of "One Step Beyond" claims that these supernatural stories are true. Yeah...and I am the Easter Bunny. Still, some of the shows are quite entertaining...even if I am very dubious about the voracity of the programs.

This story is told by a Mexican bartender, so it's truthfulness is beyond question. It's about a cursed necklace. The story begins with a surly rich older woman about to go out with her gigolo boyfriend. Soon, she after putting on her beloved necklace, she begins choking and dies. Then, the lady who inherited the necklace dies as well. And, the next lady...the same fate awaited her. Apparently, what we have is a case of a nasty and cursed expensive piece of jewelry.

Overall, a mildly interesting story...mildly. Nothing particularly special here...pretty much more of the same.

Every series is allowed a duff episode.

Michael Barry, a washed up lothario details events from his past, events which include a romance with a wealthy countess, and a deadly necklace that claimed several lives.

I really struggled to get through this episode, it's the very first episode of One Step beyond that I'd have to class as an absolute clunker, it just didn't work on any level.

The story was a little silly, the acting just wasn't very good, and that overly sentimental music felt well and truly out of place. It was very hard to take it seriously, at times it felt almost comedic.

The only positive I can really take from this one, is seeing our wonderful host John Newland playing a more active role, he's very much part of events here,

    4/10.

The WINCHESTER 73 or THE GUN syndrom

Of course such a scheme, the evil, doomed, cursed item that brings devastation to anyone who possesses it, is the perfect plot fir ONE STEP BEYOND series, I should have thought about it earlier...This is a good suspense but nothing is really explained, as usual, so the surprise effetcs are not that powerful as they should have been. The necaklace is a killer, so what? So, this story remains a good time waster, but certainly not that engrossing for someone like me. It's only a scheme that belongs to the series policy, rules. It is an unexplained plot, that's all. Watch John Badham's THE GUN (74) TVM or THE GUN (97) Tv series instead. Or WINCHESTER 73.
