Charles and Ray Eames' The Expanding Airport is a fascinating partly animated look at a planned airport in Washington, D.C.

Just watched this educational animated short by designers Charles and Ray Eames on the Vimeo site as linked from Cartoon Brew. It's about the new airport in Washington, D.C., with the innovation of a moving lounge to take you from the terminal to the plane without the hassle of walking long distances to and from that terminal. From some of the comments about this short I've read, that lounge wasn't a very comfortable ride though it seemed like a good idea in theory. The designs were quite fascinating to watch here with not much movement but some imagination when the planned airport is presented here. Also, there's some photos of people walking with suitable sound effects that also provides some fascinating film techniques. So on that note, The Expanding Airport is worth a look for anyone interested in these vintage drawn shorts.
