There Is No Pain in Paradise

It is One of those movies that maybe Budget was poor or the Director did nt want to engage in a drama where Things could happen in a real way as it happens in a crude and poor society as Mexico specially in the suburbs where poverty and ignorance are the leaders hand in hand and I think this film could bring more to the scene because even the end was not satisfactory at all. The acting was ok but considering the time and the way was made made it with no quality as expected!

This movie is a very subtle glance at the nightlife and mysterious characters of a large Mexican metropolis. But it also relates in a very poetic and beautiful way, the agonizing pain caused by the loss of a dear cousin and how it brings Manuel back to his mothers own 'paradise'. The 'utopic' life by the mother's side seems obscured and overwhelmed by the loss of your own childhood and the temptations of the real world.

This is an example of how a director's work can be seriously affected by the lack of practice. The main character's search for his own identity results into a confused and boring display of situations that, never the less, contribute to create an atmosphere of desperation. Not a circular history indeed, but either the scenes are told in an attractive way, so the end becomes as unexpected as the beginning of the movie.
