It shows Romaine Fielding at his best

The only weakness in this picture as an offering of entertainment is its lack of a character to excite our sympathy. It's a detective and criminal story and its feature is an exciting chase by a girl detective of a bank thief, and this takes place on locomotives. It is unusual, carefully thought out, convincing, and as effective as can be. It shows Romaine Fielding at his best, as a producer, but as a writer, though very clever, not in his most human vein. Mary Ryan plays the girl thief-catcher; she deserved all the remuneration she got for the work. This offering ought to add to its producer's reputation and to its leading woman's popularity, as having grit, not because such a character is attractive. The photography, which was not easy to get, is of good quality. - The Moving Picture World, August 23, 1913
