A Taste of Ecstasy

An intriguing but ultimately frustrating porn video, "Taste of Ecstasy" was made by Jack Stephen, a journeyman director who predominantly shot routine features for Cinderella Distributors (CDI). For unknown reasons it includes a certain strangeness here, suggesting Samuel Beckett or Harold Pinter plays, but it goes nowhere in what turns out to be nothing more than a cryptic element in an otherwise all-sex movie.

The setting is a waiting room, where people sit quietly, reading movie magazines (one prominently showing Jack Nicholson on its cover). They occasionally put down the magazines and address the viewer directly with questions about men or women, but none of this makes sense. Instead they make love on that couch.

The first grouping has Nina Hartley and T. T. Boy, in which Nina asks her question and then has an erotic fantasy of masturbating while T. T. watches her, and then f*cks her.

The second set-up has Jamie Leigh on the couch surrounded by T. T. Boy and Marc Wallice. They put down their magazines and she humps Wallice, with T. T. watching and then joining for a threesome.

Busty Amanda Addams, billed her as "Emily Moore", shows up like a receptionist, showing characters into the unknown office after their waiting. She makes love to Jamie Leigh in a lesbian scene featuring toys including a strap-on worn by Jamie, and in another scene Jamie makes love to Nina. Cryptic ending has T. T. Boy on a bed alone hearing mysterious voices.

It wouldn't have killed director Stephen to make some sense here, but he couldn't be bothered.
