The tan Dodge Diplomat that served as Julia Lawrence's vehicle which was launched off of the dock was the same vehicle that was used as Virgil Tibbs blue car in seasons 2 through 6. At the start of season 7, it was given a tan paint job and repurposed as a Sparta Police undercover vehicle. This movie was one of a few episodes where a vehicle that was prominently used by one of the characters was also used as a background vehicle.

Goofs
Frank Cole drives a car into the water off of a dock that is not only wide enough and strong enough to hold a full-size car, but is also ramped up into the air. The next day the dock appears narrower, and is level.
