Also seems like there's some sort of allegory to make regarding men perceiving women's fashion.
Lucille Balle really has a great presence and seems that in some scenes even the extras can barely hold in their laughter.
Favourite scenes would be the cigarette, the vicious train cycle, and the officer.
Seems very new yorkish also, Lucy gets literally stuck in the rat race going in and out of the train, being swarmed and shoved by the general public. The gags also feel fairly relentless here also.
The story is simple simon. Ricky is going to present a giant loving cup at a dinner for famed jockey Johnny Longden. Comes a debate as to what hat Lucy should wear -- and she winds up putting the cup on her head. Only something Lucy would do. She can't get off and what a catastrophe to follow. One of the biggest questions ever; where did the production folks get that cup? Upside down on Lucy's head, it made her look like a space alien! No kidding.
I agree, Ethel frantically calling for help, asking if anyone could get a loving cup off a woman's head is laugh out loud stuff. Vivian Vance was a diamond in the rough.
The MOST memorable scenes come during the second half, the unforgettable subway ride, Lucy cleverly wearing a black veil to hide the cup, until it gets yanked off. Surprise! The chatter among the stunned passengers is priceless, and Lucy is a one woman show, even if you can't see her face.
Jesslyn Fax plays one of the passengers, Bill Erwin in an early role as a bum? Lucy's long time stand-in, Hazel Pierce, plays a commuter. She's usually the best dressed in any background scene. That's how she stands out.
FYI: British jockey Johnny Longden rode over 6000 winning horses in his distinguished career. His wife, Hazel, also appears in this episode, who also trained horses.
Best of SEASON 6 EPISODE 12 remastered dvd box set. The famous color box cover has a sketch of Lucy with the loving cup. 4 dvds. Released 2012.

- CuriosidadesParker Brothers commemorated this episode when they made one of the six tokens in their "I Love Lucy" Monopoly a loving cup.
- Erros de gravaçãoEthel still claims that she has been married to Fred for 25 years. This has been proven inaccurate on many occasions. Ethel may be exaggerating for comic effect.
- Citações
Lucy Ricardo: [on the Flatbush Avenue subway platform, with a loving cup stuck on her head] Pardon me, can you tell me where I am?
Train Passenger: [looks at her, horrified] Yeah. You're on earth!
Lucy Ricardo: [she tries again with another bystander] Pardon me, where am I?
Train Passenger: Where are you... *what* are you?
Lucy Ricardo: Whatsa matter with everybody. Haven't you ever seen anybody with a loving cup on their head before?
Train Passenger: No, I haven't, and I've lived in Brooklyn for fifty-six years!
