Born and raised in Kansas City, MO and youngest of three sisters, Krys always had a footing in the creative, writing short stories, sketching fantasy graphic novels, fabricating costumes, props, décor, and running wild with character personas.
Krys grew up working in renovation, and property management for her father's real estate business, from low-income housing to million dollar mansions and commercial properties where she learned interior design, staging, and construction. After graduating high school in 2004, she enlisted in the Marine Corps and served as Huey and Cobra helicopter avionics and weapons technician. With three combat tours to Iraq, Somalia, and Afghanistan she left the service at nine years due to injuries.
Initially attending The Los Angeles Film School for the Writing and Directing program, Krys switched to Production Design. She has designed, built, and dressed sets for theatre, short films, feature films, music videos, and live concerts. She has also led as wardrobe and costume stylist, specializing in military uniforms for film, television, theatre, commercial, and industrial photography. Krys has also stepped in as aviation consultant and military technical advisor.
Relocating to Washington, DC in 2018, Krys continues as a Production Designer, Art Director and technical advisor with notable clients such as The Washington National Cathedral and The University of Maryland Global Campus. In addition to design and costume/wardrobe, Krys is an active writer, director, and producer for documentary, fantasy/sci-fi, and comedy, as well as actor for film and television with projects from New York to Georgia, expanding back to New Mexico and California.
