Rae Earl was born and raised in Stamford, Lincolnshire, UK. She is an author, broadcaster, and freelance screenwriter best known for My Mad Fat Diary (2013) and Mustangs FC (2017). She is an alumnus of Stamford High School and the University of Hull and holds both British and Australian citizenship. Rae lives in Hobart, Tasmania.
