Derek Mehn was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania to Dianne Mehn, a hairdresser, and Karl Mehn, a Hungarian-immigrant & PA State Trooper. Derek graduated from Penn State University in State College, studying with famed character-actor Charles Dumas. After moving to Los Angeles, Derek studied drama with Playhouse West (counting Jeff Goldblum as a teacher), Meisner-disciple Joel Asher, & classical Shakespeare with ISC's own David Melville. Eventually succumbing to his comedic instincts, he wound up at Groundlings Theater & became a Sunday Company performer/writer. He also became a stand-up comic & went up at the main stages of The Comedy Store, The Improv (Hollywood), and Flappers. He's performed showcases for Comedy Central, ABC & at comedy festivals in Chicago, Miami & L.A. His credits include Kidding, Reasonable Doubt, Pitch Perfect 3 & Netflix's Sitting in Bars with Cake. He was nominated for a NY FringeFest Best Actor award for the title role in "Hamlet, Shut Up" & has starred in dozens of commercials, including several current national campaigns. Derek convinced his high-school sweetheart, Kristen Rahn, to move to L.A., & now they're married and have 3 children.
