The Raid director Gareth Evans is ready to unleash Havoc — but don’t worry, it won’t last too long, as Evans himself revealed that his next movie will have a runtime of 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Following his appearance at the Next on Netflix event this week, Gareth Evans confirmed the runtime of Havoc — the subject of some discussion and speculation as of late — would be a “tight one.” Posting on Instagram, Evans wrote, “Oh and to clarify as have seen rumours rumbling… the runtime for the film is a tight as a drum 1hr 45mins (Inc credits) and will be out this spring (sorry for being cryptic – I’m not allowed to say exactly when just yet!).” While we don’t have a release date, knowing that the runtime for the movie itself is likely somewhere around 1:40 or less is encouraging.

Timothy Olyphant is set to join Anya Taylor-Joy in Lucky, an Apple TV+ limited series based on the bestselling novel by Marissa Stapley of the same name.

Variety has learned that Olyphant has joined the series alongside previously announced lead Anya Taylor-Joy as well as recently announced cast member Annette Bening.

“Lucky” is based on the novel of the same name by Marissa Stapley. The book was a New York Times bestseller and a selection for Reese Witherspoon’s Reese’s Book Club. Per the official description, Taylor-Joy stars as “a young woman who left behind the life of crime she was raised in years ago, but must now embrace her darker, criminal side one final time in a desperate attempt to escape her past.”

Olyphant will play John, Lucky’s father.

This marks the second Apple series in which Olyphant will appear. Variety exclusively reported that he will star in an upcoming golf comedy series at the streamer alongside Owen Wilson.

The Alien franchise is set to continue on the small screen with an “FX on Hulu” TV series called Alien: Earth, from Fargo creator Noah Hawley. The show began filming in Thailand back in 2023, then had to halt production after a month due to the actors strike. Filming resumed in early 2024 and wrapped last summer, with a teaser trailer dropping back in November to let us know that the show is aiming for a Summer 2025 premiere. While we still don’t have an exact release date for Alien: Earth yet, we know that Noah Hawley’s TV show is coming later this year, at some point in the summer.

Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, Timothy Olyphant, Kit Young, Adarsh Gourav, David Rysdahl, Babou Ceesay, Lily Newmark, Adrian Edmondson, Sandra Yi Sencindiver and Moe Bar-El co-star in the series, which is set two years before the events of Alien.

As the title suggests, the long-running franchise is expected to give us a good look at Earth itself around the time when the first film is set. We won’t go into too many details here, but Ryan Lambie has previously offered a breakdown of Alien: Earth's last trailer which contains a few predictions and ideas of what to possible expect.

The Alien franchise started waaaaaay back in 1979, and has had its ups and downs since then. It's been getting a bit of its groove back in recent years with movies like Alien: Covenant and most recently Alien: Romulus, which came out last year. FX and Hulu are going to try and keep that role going with Alien: Earth, the first-ever Alien TV series set to air sometime this summer.

Netflix’s Terminator Zero anime is arguably the best Terminator project since the James Cameron movies, and there are plenty of things Terminator 7 can learn from it. While James Cameron has confirmed that he is working on a secret Terminator project, the status of Terminator 7 is unclear. However, assuming that a new Terminator film does happen eventually, it will have big shoes to fill after how well-received Terminator Zero was. With an 86% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes, Terminator Zero is the franchise’s highest-rated movie or show since Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

Terminator Zero takes place mostly two years after the events of Terminator 2, although it also includes scenes set in the near future. The anime series can be considered one of the many Terminator timelines and is not too worried about how it intersects with the movies. Instead, Terminator Zero tells a somewhat self-contained story that perfectly fits into that world.

Debuting in February 2017, and running for three seasons on Netflix, Santa Clarita Diet focuses on a married couple that is regular in every way except for one crucial detail. The wife, Sheila Hammond (Drew Barrymore), begins to crave human flesh. The horror sitcom also starred Timothy Olyphant, Liv Hewson, and Skyler Gisondo. As one of the relatively early streaming series, prior to the arrival of Disney+ and Apple TV+, the comedy was met with solid initial reactions and garnered largely positive reviews.

Horror fans are in for an exciting 2025. The Lonely Island‘s Jorma Taccone is in good company for his next directorial project as Ben Schwartz and Sam Rockwell board the upcoming Searchlight comedy DNA. News about Taccone joining DNA as the film’s director and producer comes after he recently launched production in Finland for The Trip, an upcoming thriller starring Jason Segel and Samara Weaving.

Plot details for DNA remain a mystery, though we know Schwartz sold the concept to Searchlight in 2020. Schwartz wrote the script, while Ali Bell, Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Taccone produced through their Party Over Here studio. The promo only includes a few brief shots of what has been described as a "new breed" of Xenomorph, but it does confirm the show's summer 2025 premiere date while also revealing a significant change to the previously-established timeline.

This is an interesting move for a few reasons, and curiosity has been high among franchise fans about how Alien: Earth would handle this story.
