Legendary’s Pacific Rim series has landed at Amazon MGM Studios. The two studios will adapt the IP together (with Legendary in first position) for Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service.
The Pacific Rim TV project, currently in development, is the first from Legendary’s first-look television deal with Eric Heisserer and his Chronology banner. Heisserer will write and executive produce the series.
The Pacific Rim universe first launched in 2013 with the Guillermo del Toro-directed feature film of the same name. Major news in the long-awaited return of Netflix’s The Sandman.
The streamer has released a teaser trailer (below) for the second and final season of the fantasy series, which stars Tom Sturridge as Dream. There’s also a premiere date — well, actually, two launch dates, as Netflix has decided to split the roll out of the second season into two parts.
Volume 1 will comprise six episodes to debut July 3, while Volume 2 will have five episodes premiering July 24. It’s a strategy Netflix usually reserves for its highest-profile titles (such as Stranger Things).
Here’s the official description: “After a fateful reunion with his family, Dream of the Endless (Tom Sturridge) must face one impossible decision after another as he attempts to save himself, his kingdom, and the waking world from the epic fallout of his past misdeeds. To make amends, Dream must confront longtime friends and foes, gods, monsters,...

The show originally debuted on Prime Video in February. It starred Laverne Cox, George Wallace, Jay Wilkison, D.K. Uzoukwu, Telma Hopkins, Philip Garcia, and Norah Murphy. It bears the distinction of being the last completed series produced by the legendary Norman Lear before his death in 2023.
The logline for the show states that it “follows Harry Slate (Wallace), an old-school and outspoken Alabama car wash owner, who has a lot of soul searching to do when the estranged child he thought was a son returns home to Mobile as a proud, trans woman, Desiree (Cox).”
Wallace and Cox co-created the series with Dan Ewen. All three served as executive producers along with Lear, Brent Miller, and Simran Baidwan. Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios produced.

Netflix’s word-of-mouth breakout Adolescence climbed to the top of the U.S. streaming charts in late March.
The four-part miniseries, which has climbed the streamer’s all-time rankings in recent weeks, drew 1.44 billion minutes of viewing for the week of March 17-23, according to Nielsen. It displaced the previous week’s leader, Moana 2, from the top overall spot — although the Disney movie didn’t fall far, finishing third overall with 1.13 billion viewing minutes.
In between them was Netflix’s murder mystery-comedy The Residence, which premiered March 20 and racked up 1.36 billion minutes of watch time in its first four days. Prime Video’s Reacher ran its billion-minute streak to five weeks, adding another 1.1 billion to its tally. (Nielsen has already said Reacher was the most streamed show in the U.S. in March.)

An engineer explained where hundreds of The Price Is Right players go wrong when they play the beloved game, Plinko. The expert told Reddit users exactly where to stand when playing the game and the mechanics of it. Robert B. Hayes, PhD, Chp, Pe, is an Associate Professor of Nuclear Engineering at North Carolina State University, a Fellow of the Health Physics Society, and a Fellow of the American Physical Society. He posed the question, “How does the normal distribution generator work?” With a smaller version of the game, Hayes demonstrated that the beads start at the bottom. “But, as they flow through the top, they hit little pins as they fall down,” he said. “So, they have to juggle between all of the different pins. As they go down the pins, they either have to go to the left or to the right of each pin as they hit.

One of the pleasures of Tony Gilroy’s “Andor” is how standalone it feels within the “Star Wars” universe. It is a rare prequel that manages to make you afraid for characters you know damn well survive until the end — of the series, anyway — and employs a distinct, sophisticated tone that uncovers wholly new facets of its galaxy far, far away. It is inherently “Star Wars,” but also unlike anything in the franchise.
Except that last part is not entirely true. Because there is another “Star Wars” title that covers much of the same ground in a way that is in constant conversation with “Andor” — a show that gave us our first look at the birth of the Rebel Alliance, that portrayed infighting between nascent rebel cells, the rivalry between Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) and Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly), and much more.

If Jeopardy! fans can say anything about host Ken Jennings, it’s that he is stylish. The G.O.A.T. revealed how many ties he has in his closet, now that he has graduated from playing the game show to hosting it. On Tuesday, April 15, Jennings shared a photo to Instagram, where he stood in front of ties and dress shirts that were hanging in his closet. He pointed back to them as he wore a red polka-dot button-up shirt with a white T-shirt under it. “I think the question I’m most often asked by Jeopardy! studio audiences: how many ties do you have? Well, here’s the rotation. Start counting,” Ken Jennings captioned the post. “I have 152 on my ‘Ken Ties’ spreadsheet, but I lost track of the new ones this season!!” one Instagram user commented. “I love your tie collection! I always check them out. I checked out Alex’s ties also,...

The second season of “Light & Magic,” about the history of VFX giant Industrial Light & Magic (helmed by “Jumanji” director and former Ilm vet Joe Johnston), kicks off with a fascinating glimpse into the making of Jar Jar Binks in the first of three episodes.
The initial fan response to the character was decidedly negative, whether for Jar Jar’s slapstick humor tone clashing with the other stories within “Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace” or for the Gungan’s broad characterization that some critics and audiences found reflected racist stereotypes. Jar Jar hate has softened a little over time, particularly concerning the work of performer Ahmed Best, who beat out both Robin Williams and Michael Jackson for the role of Binks and has now gotten to save Baby Yoda in the guise of Jedi Master Kelleran Beq in “The Mandalorian.” But Best was the first to step into a mocap suit,...

Growing up, whenever I heard the name Agatha Christie, it was generally because our family’s TV was tuned to PBS. And while what I’m about to say is in no way fair to the famed mystery writer’s rich oeuvre, nor its wide and varied body of television adaptations, it’s true: I pretty much associated the author’s name with stuffy-seeming men with signature mustaches, looking intrigued.

Ryan Seacrest was very confused during the latest episode of Wheel of Fortune. When the host asked a contestant if they liked sports, they started to do their team’s chant, and Seacrest seemingly had no idea what was happening. Justin Orr, from Bentonville, Arkansas, played against Christina Rinaldi, from Santa Barbara, California, and Vernesha Montgomery, from Clinton, Maryland, on Thursday, April 17. Orr gave the game show something to talk about, despite not winning. During the introduction rounds, Ryan Seacrest asked Orr, “Big sports fan, huh?” “Big sports fan,” the Wheel of Fortune contestant confirmed. “I graduated from the University of Arkansas, so on football seasons on Saturdays, you can find me with my fellow Arkansasians in a symphony of beer and barnyard noises.” Or graduated in 2008 with a Bachelors Degree in Marketing/Marketing Management. “And what do you say there?” Seacrest wondered. Before country star Charley Crockett hit the road on his 2025 tour, he made a stop in the small Texas town of Ransom Canyon. The singer appears as himself — and performs two of his hits, “Spade” and “I Need Your Love” — in the new romantic Western, which debuted April 17.
Star Minka Kelly was so enthralled during Crockett’s performance at the dance hall owned by , that she had to remind herself that she was not actually at a concert. “Charley Crockett was so cool,” she tells Tudum. “Shooting that scene, I was like, ‘You’re working, stop watching the show.’ ”
Crockett can also count Kelly’s costar Josh Duhamel as a new listener. “I became a huge fan of Charley Crockett,” Duhamel says. “There really is something magical about when you find the right piece of music with the right visual and they just go together so beautifully.

The fact that “Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band” even exists goes against everything the Boss used to believe. Up until a few years ago, he admits he was “very superstitious” about filming the band.
“I didn’t believe that the magician should look too closely at his magic trick, that it might alter it in some way,” Springsteen tells Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast, in the Emmy season kickoff episode. “And we were doing fine… It’s really amazing that we have the films that we have from when we were a younger man, because I was pretty much against filming.

The Comeback Kid. Baby J. Andrew Glouberman. John Mulaney has many names in the Netflix universe, and now he’s claimed one more: live talk show host. Mulaney is hosting, co-showrunning, and executive producing Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney through his company, Multiple Camera Productions, alongside executive producers Ashley Edens, Dave Ferguson, and John Foy.
As Mulaney reminds us at the top of his monologue each week, the talk show streams “live around the world with no delay.” This 12-episode season is a continuation of John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in L.A., which was part of last year’s Netflix is a Joke Fest. Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney, which the host himself insists will “never be relevant,” features Richard Kind as its beloved announcer; Saymo as both trusty snack-delivery robot and Richard Kind antagonizer; and a slate of rotating guest panelists who will discuss a weekly “universal” topic.
