Find the Lady

A Debutante has disappeared moments before being presented to their Royal Majesties. Reeder looks into it further and discovers other young Ladies have also vanished.

Despite the obvious flaws, remembering that this was 1971, this is a very enjoyable, entertaining, and well crafted mystery. It's a baffling case, but clever and well crafted,

Oliver.... If ever I've accused anyone of overacting or being over the top in the past, I take it all back, this guy's off the scale.

David Collings is very good as The Captain, another big character, but he stays in check and doesn't overplay it. Windsor Davies has been a good addition as The Detective. Tony Anholt is charismatic as The Italian Count, a very handsome man.

It is great that this one is in colour, one of only two, one of the top three episodes. The sets are really nice here.

When a young debutante disappears just before she is about to be announced to the monarch.

Reeder is called into investigate just in case this is another dastardly plan of the Bolsheviks.

Reeder finds that several society girls have disappeared. One walked out in the middle of a magic trick from a Chinese magician.

The Honorable Clive Fitzcormorant (David Collings) the youngest son of an aristocrat has also lost his fiancee. Last heard to be on a ship bound for Singapore.

Reeder finds his own life in peril and deduces that the women are being lured as valuable cargo in the white slave trade. The obvious suspect is a fake Italian count who so many women find attractive.

At time this was like watching the Doctor Who episode The Talons of Weng Chiang. The only thing missing was a homicidal porker.

This was another nice mystery with Reeder making the most of the clues he has discovered. Reeder and Inspector Pyne bounce off well. Miss Belam was prepared to put her life in jeopardy. Sir Toovey took the credit at the end.

I am sure I was not the only one to notice just how much David Collings looked like John Hurt, they even had similar mannerisms. I would not had been supplied if his stomach had burst opened.
