Anecdotes
In the final scene, when the wedding guests are running Benny Hill-style out of the church (St Bartholomew's, Reading, Berkshire), the picture of the church and churchyard cemetery is framed on the right by one of Britain's more recognisable cemetery monuments, a realist statue of two brothers - Harold and Ernest Deverell, aged 13 and 15 - who drowned on 26 June 1886 while swimming near their home. Churchyard monuments in Britain tend to be headstones with inscriptions; sculptures, especially of actual people, are relatively rare.
