Vasquez Rocks is the main outdoor location. The fort exterior set on location was built by Columbia Studios in the mid-1950s for the short-lived series Tales of the 77th Bengal Lancers (1956) at a cost of $182,000 (citing a 1957 TV Guide article). This fort set was used in many later television series before being demolished in the mid-1970s. The series' regular Old Tucson set is seen only once in a shot of Buck Cannon riding through the gate of the Cannon ranch.
