IMO this book should've been cut by half. The core story is interesting, but the reader gets dragged along with so many pointless characters that I started to feel like I was watching a filler episode of a tv-show I should've abandoned a long time ago but can't because I'm too invested, only without any of the investment.
Since the dad is a total jerk and the kid has the personality of a wet wipe, I didn't even have spending time with them to look forward to.
I'd rather read two good books instead of this tombstone.
