I wonder if the audience is going to be on board with TWL going dark.
February 8, 2025 at 4:29 pm #1206135384actual rant incoming but it is so frustrating after an excellent episode like 2×04 of Severance to look at the front pages of so many trades and big publications with their top 10 most read full of Trump and scandals.
No wonder it’s so hard for shows to break through, they’re not even competing with other shows, what could easily end up being the most acclaimed episode of the entire cycle is competing with straight up noise for a day or two in the entertainment news cycle.
February 8, 2025 at 6:09 pm #1206135452Watching the latest Severance made me feel like i was watching tv history unfold ngl. I legit cried at how fantastic it was and i HIGHLY doubt TWL or TLOU will top it.
Severance sweep.

February 8, 2025 at 6:20 pm #1206135461If John Turturro doesn’t win the Supporting Actor Emmy then what are we doing here lol. I only accept him losing to Tillman from the same show.

I think this depends on whether this helps the show lean into being more voyeuristic (which the trailers and “reactions” would indicate so far) or too bleak as some people (not me!) wound up finding seasons 3 and 4 of Barry.

February 8, 2025 at 6:49 pm #1206135495I totally forgot Yellowjackets drops on streaming first on Friday and then airs on Showtime Sunday.
Do we know when the embargo for it lifts?

February 8, 2025 at 7:18 pm #1206135514Ignoring the individual quality of those shows, the fact that HBO has largely been repurposed into an IP factory (“The Penguin”, “Dune: Prophecy”, “House of the Dragon”, “True Detective: Night Country”) while Apple has to build its own shows is a huge part of this. https://t.co/DKMgCPKoKe

February 8, 2025 at 7:44 pm #1206135548I really hope Severance’s visibility bring more eyeballs to other shows there. I’m gonna need Slow Horses 5 to make Nielsen.

So far imdb indicates
Penguin 95
Penguin/dragon 94
Severance/monsters 92
Tho 3 of those are in limited
(91 boys, bear, agatha, dexter)February 8, 2025 at 8:21 pm #1206135585Luminate’s new charts don’t even have Severance in the top 10 last week.
I really want to see what Nielsen is like because I think? Silo did not make it here either
also is very out of line with these sorts of numbers which jumped up at ep 3 and have stayed high for ep 4. it’s possible the show has a massive problem with that I guess.
this show is a hard data read and does benefit from its demo but I’m still? not sure I buy it doing sub 275m minutes and dropping week on week, it feels like a Luminate problem

It will be huge the day it does because of how short its run time is.

it has a good backlog of eps now though so that should help.
February 9, 2025 at 2:51 am #1206135986They have been doing a great job hiding the darker part of TWL in the trailers because it looks sillier to me compared to the previous seasons, not the other way around.

“Shogun” star Hiroyuki Sanada said Season 2 of the Emmy-winning FX series could begin shooting as early as this fall:
“We are aiming for the fall of this year, and the writers' room is working so hard now. We’re going to have half [of the Season 1] cast remaining, and then half… pic.twitter.com/OULThfcbv5
