Severance Season 2
Apple TV+

Severance” Season 2 will be remembered as one of the greatest moments of this planet. Over the weekend, Apple TV+ dropped a trailer for the long-awaited new season of its Emmy-winning sci-fi thriller, and if it’s an accurate reflection of what the season holds, it’s going to be a magnificent escalation of the series.

In the trailer, the “innies” of Lumon Industries go back to work after the game-changing events of the Season 1 finale, where they blew the whistle on the cruel conditions the people who have undergone the “severance” process live under inside of Lumon. They’re all trying to figure out what’s really going on inside and outside of Lumon, but “innie” Mark Scout (Adam Scott) has a particular goal: free Ms. Casey (Dichen Lachman) from inside of Lumon and return her to “outie” Mark, her husband who thinks she’s dead. Meanwhile, “outie” Mark is also trying to find out the truth.

Apple TV+’s official description puts Season 2’s plot more succinctly: “Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe.”

“Severance” is created by Dan Erickson and executive-produced by Ben Stiller. Stiller directs five episodes this season. Uta Bresiewitz, Sam Donovan, and Jessica Lee Gagné direct the remainder. The main cast consists of Scott, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Lachman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette, plus new series regular Sarah Bock. The season’s guest cast includes Gwendoline Christie, Bob Balaban, Merritt Wever, Alia Shawkat, Robby Benson, Stefano Carannante, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, and John Noble

“Severance” debuted in February 2022 and became one of the most acclaimed shows of the year. It was nominated for 14 Emmys, including Outstanding Drama Series, acting nods for Scott, Turturro, Walken, and Arquette, and directing for Stiller. It won two, for main title design and original score. Season 2 had a difficult production that was delayed by the strikes, but it’s finally ready.

“Severance” Season 2 premieres Friday, Jan. 17 on Apple TV+.
