TCS NQT Interview Experience | On-Campus Drive
Last Updated :
28 Nov, 2024
I appeared for the TCS NQT (National Qualifier Test) through an on-campus drive at my college. However, I had to visit an external center to take the exam. The exam itself consisted mostly of MCQ questions along with two coding problems.
One thing I can assure you is that if you are appearing for the TCS NQT through your college, the coding and aptitude questions tend to be easier compared to other modes of the exam. I managed to solve most of the MCQs and both coding questions without much trouble.
The results came about 45 days later, and I was selected for the Prime role at TCS. Three weeks after that, the interview was scheduled to take place on campus.
Interview Process
The interview process was a full-day event. The first step was verification. After that, I was called in for the technical interview, which lasted around 20 minutes. The interviewers appreciated my quick responses, as I answered most of their questions in a short span of time.
They asked me to write some codes on paper, which I solved in a minute or two. One of the key topics they discussed was String vs StringBuilder—understanding this difference is important.
Other technical topics included:
- A brief overview of my project.
- DBMS (Database Management System) concepts, including the 1st normal form.
Managerial Round
The managerial round was a bit tougher. They asked me to explain my project and my role in it in detail. Most of the questions were based on the skills and experience mentioned on my resume, so it's essential to be familiar with everything you’ve listed.
HR Round
The HR round was mostly about personal and behavioral questions. Some of the questions I was asked included:
- Do you have any current job offers?
- Would you be willing to work if we offer you a Ninja or Digital role at TCS?
- What were your marks in 10th, 12th, and your CGPA?
Final Result
After a week, the results came in, and I was selected for the Prime role at TCS.
Tips for TCS NQT Aspirants
Here are a few tips for those preparing for the interview:
- Focus on project-based questions and be prepared to talk about the deployment process.
- Brush up on OOPS concepts, SQL, DBMS, and basic DSA (Data Structures and Algorithms).
- Be prepared to answer questions from your resume.
- Don’t forget the basics of engineering subjects—they might come up during the interview.
- Keep your behavior decent and maintain confidence throughout the process.
