The getPackageName() method of java.lang.Class class is used to get the package name of this entity. This entity can be a class, an array, an interface, etc. The method returns the package name of this entity as a String.
Syntax:

public String getPackageName()

Parameter: This method does not accept any parameter.
Return Value: This method returns the package name of this entity as a String.
Below programs demonstrate the getPackageName() method.
Note: This method was introduced in Java 9. Hence to run this method, we need a compiler with Java 9. So this won't run in the online IDE.
Example 1:

Java
// Java program to demonstrate getPackageName() method

public class Test {
    public static void main(String[] args)
        throws ClassNotFoundException
    {

        // returns the Class object for this class
        Class myClass = Class.forName("Test");

        System.out.println("Class represented by myClass: "
                           + myClass.toString());

        // Get the package name of myClass
        // using getPackageName() method
        System.out.println("PackageName of myClass: "
                           + myClass.getPackageName());
    }
}

Output:

Class represented by myClass: class Test
PackageName of myClass:

Example 2:

Java
// Java program to demonstrate getPackageName() method

public class Test {

    class Arr {
    }

    public static void main(String[] args)
        throws ClassNotFoundException
    {
        // returns the Class object
        Class myClass = Class.forName("java.lang.String");

        // Get the package name of myClass
        // using getPackageName() method
        System.out.println("PackageName of myClass: "
                           + myClass.getPackageName());
    }
}

Output:

Class represented by myClass: class java.lang.String
PackageName of myClass: java.lang
