How to Install Kubuntu on VirtualBox?

Kubuntu is the flavor of the Ubuntu operating system which uses the KDE Plasma Desktop instead of the GNOME desktop environment. Kubuntu 21.04 features the beautiful KDE Plasma. It comes with updates to many core packages, including KDE Frameworks 5.68, Plasma 5.18 LTS KDE Applications 19.12.3, and a new 5.4-based kernel.

Requirements:
- Processor: 1 GHz x86.
- RAM memory: 1 GB.
- Minimum10 GB of HDD for a full installation with swap included.
- VGA graphics card and a monitor which is capable of supporting a resolution of 1024 × 768.
- CD-ROM or network card reader.
- Kubuntu iso file can be downloaded from here.
- Virtualbox which can be downloaded from here.
- Sound card.
- Internet connection.
Installation:
Create New virtual machine
Step 1: Open your Virtual Box, press on the new button to create the new virtual machine.

New virtual machine Name & Version:
Step 2: Enter the name which you want for your virtual machine and select it to Ubuntu-based 64bit Linux architecture.

Memory Allocation:
Step 3: Allocate the size of RAM you want to give to the Virtual Machine of Kubuntu.

Virtual Hard Disk configuration:
Step 4: Select the option saying create a virtual hard disk now and then click on the create button.
Step 5: Select the Hard Disk File type as VDI (Virtual Hard Disk).
Step 6: Select the type of storage on Physical Hard Disk Storage.
Step 7: Now, one needs to select the size of the virtual hard disk and the location where one wants to save his machine and its files.

Adding iso file:
Step 8: Click on the settings icon after selecting Kubuntu machine and select your downloaded Kubuntu ISO file. Then click on the start button.
Step 9: When the processing is completed then click on the Virtual machine name on the left panel and hit on the start button. Select the option saying Kubuntu and hit enter.

Installation setup:
Step 10: Click on Install Kubuntu.

Keyboard Layout selection:
Step 11: The next step is to select a keyboard layout, select your preferred one.

Select No download:
Step 12: Click on continue if you want to download updates while installing Kubuntu and if not then uncheck its box.

Select use entire disk:
Step 13: Select use entire disk option and click on install now.
Step 14: Hit on continue.

Select your Location:
Step 15: Select your location, Time zone, and press continue.

Account details:
The second last step is to configure your account by entering the name and computer’s name. Pick the desired username you want and enter a strong password which will be required whenever you or anybody else tries to access Kubuntu. Then click on continue.
All the main steps are done and now all you need to wait for the installation process to complete.

Installation finished:
The last step is to reboot your Kubuntu by clicking on the restart now button.

Demo:
Type in your credentials to access Kubuntu.
On the bottom, we can see the application launcher icon, system settings icon, browser icon, etc, and various applications, games, office, graphics can be accessed from this application launcher icon.
Open your terminal by right-clicking and selecting terminal. Then enter these few basic commands shown below:
whoami
ls
cd Desktop
cd /
ping geeksforgeeks.org
Now you can go ahead and explore yourself what Kubuntu Linux has to offer.
