GD round duration may go from 15-30 minutes or more, depending upon the moderator & the topic discussion. Types of GD:

Generally GD are of 3 types:

1. Topical GD- The Topical GD consists of group discussion on specific topic, often related to current events,political, social issues or general knowledge Example topics like Inflation or Women Safety. Under this, participants share & express their ideas freely and open-endedly. It is done to assess participant's topic knowledge, critical thinking and the ability to argue & present their views.

2. Case-Study GD- Under this, the participants are given a case study or hypothetical situation to analyze & discuss. It analyzes participants understanding of the case & his/her problem-solving abilities through the case. 3. Abstract GD- These are types of discussion where topic given is not straightforward and are often interpreted in different ways.
