Difference between Hardware and Middleware

Hardware and Middleware are both parts of a Computer. Hardware is the combination of physical components in a computer system that perform various tasks such as input, output, processing, and many more. Middleware is the part of software that is the communication medium between application and operating system that connects various applications, databases, etc. In this article, we will cover the differences between Hardware and Middleware.

What is Hardware?

Hardware, as the name suggests, is simply a physical component of a computer i.e. input devices, processing devices, output devices and storage devices as well as making computer devices work and execute tasks. It consists of internal hardware and external hardware. Internal hardware as the name suggests, that present internally or inside a computer such as CPU, RAM, motherboard, processor etc. Internal hardware plays a major role in running the computer when we talk about the CPU which is the brain of the computer when we pass any instructions, it first goes to the CPU and then the machine to give it output..External hardware as the name suggests externally or outside the computer such as a keyboard, touchpad, USB drive, and memory card. It also plays a major role in performing both input and output operations.

Advantages of Hardware

• Enhanced the capacity of storage.
• A high Graphical user interface will huge impact on user experience.

Disadvantages of Hardware

• Regular maintenance is the challenging factor of computer hardware that causes due to overheating, physical damage, etc.
• It is costly when we talk about high-performance hardware components.

What is Middleware ?

Middleware, as name suggests, are simply a type of software that handle various functions such as data management, application services, authentication, API management, etc. and provide services to application. It is responsible for managing interconnected systems. It provides a simplified design process that is easily managing the application. Middleware provides security between the distributed applications and backend applications so that our data or information is secure between the applications.

Advantages of Middleware

• It enhance the efficiency of the businesses.
• It helps developers to create various types of networked applications.

Disadvantages of Middleware

• Some tools are not fully developed.
• The connection between the application and the database server is slow.
• It's setup is complex.

Difference Between Hardware and Middleware
