I recently had the opportunity to interview with Candescent, which comprised a total of four rounds:
Recruitment Process Overview
- Online Assessment
- Technical Round 1
- Technical Round 2
- HR Round
Round 1: Online Assessment
The process began with an online assessment that included 22 questions in total. Out of these, 20 were multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering core subjects such as Data Structures & Algorithms (DSA), Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Operating Systems, Database Management Systems (DBMS), Computer Networks, and Cloud Computing.
Additionally, there were 2 coding questions of moderate difficulty, requiring efficient problem-solving and coding skills.
Round 2: Technical Interview 1
After the assessment, around 40 candidates were shortlisted for the first technical interview. This round lasted for approximately one hour and focused on fundamental computer science concepts, problem-solving, and coding skills.
The Interviewer asked:
- Basic programming and DSA-related questions
- Puzzle-based problems to assess logical thinking
- Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and real-world applications
- System design-related questions
This round primarily aimed to evaluate the depth of understanding of fundamental programming concepts, problem-solving ability, and logical thinking.
Round 3: Technical Interview 2
The second technical interview was more advanced than the previous one. The questions were more in-depth and scenario-based, with a mix of topics from my resume and new questions that had not been covered in the first technical round.
Some of the key areas covered in this round included:
- Database Management Systems (DBMS), database consistency, and transactions
- Cloud computing concepts
- Scenario-based questions where real-world solutions were expected rather than textbook answers
The interviewers were looking for practical, well-thought-out responses rather than theoretical definitions. This round was more challenging, as it required applying concepts to real-world use cases.
Round 4: HR Interview
The final round was the HR interview, which focused on my background, personality, and career aspirations.
The questions included:
- Personal background (schooling, family, and hobbies)
- Preferred job location and domain of interest
- Challenges I have faced so far and how I overcame them
- Who is my role model and why?
- Basic technical questions
- Discussion about the company, its culture, and my expectations from the role
This round primarily aimed to assess cultural fit, communication skills, and career alignment with the company.
Final Outcome
After two days, my college received the shortlist of selected candidates—and to my surprise, my name was on the list!
The overall experience was challenging yet rewarding, and I learned a lot throughout the process. The interviewers were professional and focused on evaluating problem-solving ability, technical knowledge, and real-world application of concepts rather than just theoretical understanding.
I am grateful for this experience and excited about the opportunity to work with Candescent!
