The amazing level of personalization I can do with Yakuake is a given, as it is KDE software. Yakuake is unique in the way it handles the concept of terminal emulators. Yakuake quietly appears as an overlay and leaves my sight as soon as I want, with no interruptions or pressing Alt+Tab multiple times trying to figure out where my terminal window drifted in my stack of open windows. Love this application! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The blur background issue (wherein the terminal background should stay blurred, but it does not at multiple scenarios) made it a bit cumbersome to use for me, as I had to use a dark background with that issue. Using a dark background made it a bit jarring to call in Yakuake over my currently active window as a black curtain unfolded and folded everytime I wanted to use Yakuake. This was a few weeks ago when I was daily driving KDE Plasma with Yakuake, so, maybe it has been fixed already? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love yakuake and use it daily for work and contributing to open source projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It would be nice if it didn't occasionally show up in the task bar as a running application. Doesn't happen every time, but sometimes and has for years. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Separated from window manager policy, it is controlled by keyboard shortcut on every desktop without flickering. It looks like virtual terminal within framebuffer conosle, but it is bringing continuous experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's only good for horizontal screens. When using on vertical screens, it's too slow with animation effect. If not adopted animation effect, it looks little bit flickering. And scrolling is too far from text output. If it has 'find' function on reverse scroll direction, it will be more useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ease of use! Very quick to get to a console when I need to compile or do a quick edit of config files Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is based on Konsole, which is not my first choice. So it suffers from the small annoyances I have with Konsole. No manpage, initially not the most userfriendly to setup Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love the idea of having a htop running in split window at yakuake that lets me peek on the system resources very quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is nothing I dislike about this project. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the animation factor from Yakauke. It helps make my presentation more exciting. I think the benefit is complete comprehension for the viewer. Yakauka helps people understand in better detail more about what you are trying to communicate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It took some effort for me to get comfortable using Yakuake. I wish there were more shortcuts because it is a little time consuming for me to get used to. I also think animation could be even more sophisticated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
First of all, the smooth sliding of Yakuake is pretty cool. Secondly, the fact that it's based on Konsole makes it quite powerful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Bugs are still present and more features should be implemented. Skins are supposed to be supported by Yakuake but I wasn't able to find any online or a menu that suggested the skins support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The quake like animation to display the terminal and the global workflow as it does not disturb the window disposition and the terminal is available at any time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I used the minimal look and there is no easy way to access the settings once the theme is applied Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
