Horror Film 'Queen of Bones' Trailer with Butters, Tremblay, Freeman

Queen of Bones Trailer

"What did you do to our mother?!" "I loved her." Vertical has debuted this indie horror film titled Queen of Bones, now available to watch on VOD already after releasing last week. From director Robert Budreau, the film originally premiered last year at the Santa Barbara Film Festival and other fests around the US. A folktale about twin siblings who suspect their father is hiding secrets to their deceased mother's connection with the supernatural. The impressive cast features name actors Julia Butters, Jacob Tremblay, Martin Freeman, and Taylor Schilling. No idea how he wrangled up such a major cast? Twin siblings Lily & Sam (Butters & Tremblay) are determined to uncover the truth behind their mother's untimely death and her ties to the supernatural, despite their father's relentless efforts to keep the past buried. Alas this received pretty bad reviews from anyone who saw it during its festival debut and this trailer doesn't make it look any good.

Watch: Beautiful Animated Short Film 'Monsoon Blue' from Hong Kong

Monsoon Blue Short FIlm

"I've been having this feeling I don't belong here... I keep hearing the sounds of someone crying..." Another gorgeous animated short film to enjoy - this is worth a watch. Monsoon Blue is a 14-minute short made by filmmakers in Hong Kong and after playing at festivals the past few years it's now available online to watch. The dream of a goldfish transforming back into its wild form stirs up her long-forgotten memories. The film is also about a young woman working at this pet store for fish. She and the goldfish are both trapped in the city. "When our soul is lost, where and how could we search for it?" Starring the voice of Kay Tse. The short won Best Animated Short Film at the 2024 Golden Horse Film Festival In Taiwan. Another review describes it better: "Between Summer's struggles with her nameless discontent, a parallel exploration of a cherished childhood memory, and an abundance of fish imagery, the short makes an inquiry that, upon consideration, is surprising in its enormity." The animation is beautiful and all the fish in here are super cute. View below.

Watch: 'Search For The Next Air Bud' Video - Looking for a New Dog

The Search For Next Air Bud Video

He's back! Air Bud returns! Is your dog the next Air Bud superstar? Cineverse and Air Bud Entertainment have announced the launch of a nationwide talent search to discover the next golden retriever to carry the 25-year legacy forward—embodying the charm, athleticism, and heart of the Air Bud character. They're already developing a new legacy sequel called Air Bud Returns set to hit theaters in 2026. The original sports comedy classic Air Bud was released in 1997 (directed by Charles Martin Smith; released by Disney) and became such a massive hit that they turned it into a franchise resulting in a grand total of 14 movies (so far). Only the first 3 were released in theaters, the rest are direct-to-video or direct-to-streaming (including Santa Paws recently). The OG Air Bud doggo was a pooch named Buddy who passed away in 1998. He was actually found as a stray in the Sierra Nevada in 1989. His human put olive oil in the basketball to make it more slippery, and he ended up appearing on "America's Funniest Home Videos" & Letterman before being cast in the first Air Bud movie. The rest is history. All these years later, they're looking for a brand new dog to star in this next (15th!) Air Bud movie. There's a fun video for the search to watch below. "Ain't no rules."

Review: 'Sketch' is a Rewarding Movie About Hand-Drawn Monsters

Sketch Review

"You're incredibly creative... but life is all about balancing the good and the bad." There are way, way, way too many films being made nowadays in which grief is used as a plot device. It's redundant, repetitive, and cliche. And it keeps happening over and over. However, there are a few good movies that are actually about grief. Sketch is one of the good ones. Written and directed by Seth Worley as his feature directorial debut after many other shorts, Sketch is an independent production that first premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Film Festival last year. It's a magical, whimsical, fully amusing, delightfully clever, genuinely heartwarming, deeply inspiring adventure movie that anyone at any age can enjoy. It was picked up by the distributor Angel Studios (more on that later) and is now playing in theaters where it should be seen. Bring your whole family, but most importantly, take the kids to go see Sketch and let them be inspired and moved and intrigued by it. Not only is it tons of fun – it's the kind of movie that might actually make a real difference in someone's life.

Odessa A'zion Goes Pool-Hopping in Indie Film 'Pools' Official Trailer

Pools Film Trailer

"Free is happy." "It's so unclear." Utopia has debuted the trailer for an indie film titled Pools, opening in select theaters later in August coming soon. The film premiered last year at a few festivals including SXSW Sydney. Pools is a coming-of-age indie comedy made by filmmaker Sam Hayes originally from Chicago. He says: "The original title of Pools was Pools at Night. And that image speaks very simply to what first drew me to the premise of this movie – the magic of a glowing blue pool at night... [It's] very much inspired by the movies John Hughes made in this same area in the 80s—Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Breakfast Club—some of my favorites ever. I wanted to make a movie like that, but about pool-hopping, which I find so quintessentially coming-of-age." Starring Odessa A'zion (aka Odessa Adlon), Mason Gooding, Ariel Winter, Tyler Alvarez, Francesca Noel, Michael Vlamis, Suzanne Cryer. In the midst of her whole life falling apart, Kennedy attempts to somehow reconnect with her dead father, searching for permission to live her own life within a wild pool-hopping escape. Looks like a surprisingly good indie discovery – dive in.

Official Trailer for 'Girl Climber' Red Bull Doc About Emily Harrington

Girl Climber Doc Trialer

"This is no longer just to prove myself, it's to gain back confidence in myself." Climb on! IMAX has revealed an official trailer for a new documentary film titled Girl Climber, arriving in IMAX theaters nationwide for a screening event later this month - see it on the big screen. Equal parts gripping survival story & intimate portrait, Girl Climber isn't just about breaking records, it's also about breaking barriers. Among Yosemite's boy's club, Emily isn't just proving she's the best "Girl Climber" - she's proving she is one of the best. Period. There have been many movies about rock climbers, but not many about female rock climbers. Girl Climber sets the record straight – introducing us to Emily Harrington, who is (as the description says) one of the best climbers in the world alongside Free Solo's Alex Honnold. To cement her legacy in the male-dominated world of elite rock climbing, she sets her sights on a career defining 24-hour ascent of Yosemite's El Capitan. Caught between the pursuit of personal ambition and the ticking biological clock of life, Harrington grapples with what she’s truly willing to risk. Presented by Red Bull Studios, the film features Emily along with many other climbers. Another gripping cinematic experience to enjoy up on the silver screen. Check it out below.

Watch: Faux Horror Movie Trailer 'The Piano Killer' from Jeff Rendell

The Piano Killer Trailer

"The ultimate weapon has struck a chord... with a madman." 🎹 Ha ha ha. The Horror Section Studios has unveiled an official trailer for a new faux horror movie trailer called The Piano Killer, created by Eli Roth and Jeff Rendell. As much as I wish this a real movie that will be playing in theaters soon, it's not – not yet at least. This "fake" new grindhouse trailer was made by the same creators of the fake Thanksgiving trailer attached to Grindhouse years ago, and will be playing in front of The Horror Section's upcoming release of Jimmy and Stiggs on August 15th. But just like with Thanksgiving, there's a chance that one day soon they may actually turn this fake trailer into a real movie (let's just hope it doesn't take another 16 years). What if the killer was a really big fan of... pianos?! Featuring Hailey Kittle, Eli Roth, Jeff Teravainen, Russell Yuen, Tomaso Sanelli, Jonathan Craig, Justin Harding, Leah Sharp, and Joe Delfin. There's not much of a plot with this yet, other than it involving a killer whose weapon of choice is, well, pianos. This seems fun enough! But can they actually create an entire story around it? "Pray you're not... note-worthy."

First Trailer for 'The Ugly' - Very Mysterious Thriller Film from Korea

The Ugly Film Trailer

"He raised you on his own, right?" Another intriguing thriller to watch out for. The first promo trailer for a Korean mystery thriller film titled The Ugly is out. It's premiering at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival next month. And also happens to be the latest feature from prolific Korean filmmaker Yeon Sang-ho, known for the films Seoul Station, Train to Busan, Peninsula, JUNG_E, Hellbound. He also has another thriller film out this year called Revelations in addition to this showing at TIFF. Acclaimed director Yeon Sang-ho trades spectacle for intimacy with a haunting tale of memory & moral ambiguity, about a son's search for truth and a past that refuses to stay buried. "Ugly things are scorned." Based on director Yeon's 2018 graphic novel of the same name, the film stars Park Jeong-min and Kwon Hae-hyo. It traces the journey of Im Young-gyu, a blind yet extraordinarily skilled seal artisan, and his son, Im Dong-hwan, as he unearths long-buried truths surrounding the mysterious death of Dong-hwan's mother — which was kept a secret for 4 decades. Looks like there will be some heavy emotions when he figures out what happened with his mother & father.

Mockumentary Film 'The Premiere' Trailer About a 'Scream' Musical

The Premiere Trailer

"All he's doing is taking the measurements for the red carpet." Tribeca Films has revealed an official trailer for an indie film titled The Premiere, a meta comedy about a director trying to turn his favorite movie into a stage musical. From the two filmmakers Christopher Bouckoms & Sam Pezzullo, this originally debuted last year and will be out to watch on VOD this month. The Premiere is a mockumentary about a narcissistic theater producer, Sam (Pezzullo himself), creating a documentary of his journey to stage a musical version of his favorite movie, Scream (yep, the 1996 slasher horror classic). Along the way, he clashes with quirky characters played by real-life Hamptons locals, to awkward & outrageous results. Drawing inspiration from cringe comedy classics and crafted largely through improvisation, The Premiere is a keen satire about the Hamptons with a biting love letter to the community at its core. Starring Sam Pezzullo, Kristen Curcie, Mohna Hoppe, Ruby Jackson, and Alan Ceppos. The film is as much about the Hamptons community as it is about putting on a musical as it is about the Scream movie. Lots going on in this! Looks fun enough.

First Trailer for 'The Office' Spin-Off 'The Paper' About a Newspaper

The Paper Series Trailer

"Let's show 'em how it's done!" Here we go again! NBC's Peacock service has revealed the official trailer for The Paper, a new spin-off / sequel series from "The Office" continuing with the same style and format. It's a brand new American mockumentary sitcom series created by Greg Daniels (a writer from "The Office") & Michael Koman. The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch in the Emmy Award-winning series "The Office" find a new subject when they discover a historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it. The series is set in Toledo, Ohio, taking us inside "The Truth Teller", a newspaper trying to resurrect itself with volunteer reporters. The full cast includes Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei, Ramona Young, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, and Tim Key. So it seems that Domhnall Gleeson is the new Steve Carrell in this series. It also features Oscar Nuñez returning as Oscar Martinez who appears in this footage. And it has British comic Tim Key who some of you might recognize from the film The Ballad of Wallis Island earlier this year. Enjoy.

Incredible New Trailer for 'Dongji Rescue' Film About a WWII Rescue

Dongji Rescue Trailer

"Chinese fisherman broke through the torpedo blockade." Whoa! This final trailer is a must watch! Well Go USA has unveiled a second official US trailer for a Chinese rescue thriller titled Dongji Rescue, set during the early days of WWII in 1942 (view the first trailer here). Based on the true story of what is known as the "Lisbon Maru Sinking Incident" – a terrible massacre at sea perpetrated by the Japanese. Dongji Rescue is co-directed by a Chinese filmmaker named Hu Guan, who also directed the excellent film Black Dog from last year, and tons of other acclaimed films. A Japanese ship carrying British prisoners of war was torpedoed by an American submarine. Dongji fishermen from China risk their lives to rescue over 300 British soldiers, and rescuing and protecting 3 British individuals during a search by the Japanese forces after the sinking. Staring Zhu Yilong, Wu Lei, Ni Ni, Yang Haoyu, Chen Minghao, William Franklyn-Miller, Ni Dahong, Li Jiuxiao, and Wang Yiquan. Damn! This is so intense! This trailer plays like Mad Max: Fury Road if Max was a bunch of Chinese fisherman sailing to a rescue British soldiers. I may need to watch this.

Meet 'The Runarounds' - Rocking a High School Band Series Trailer

The Runarounds Trailer

"Put the people you love in the center and the music will come." Prime Video has revealed the first official trailer for a streaming series called The Runarounds, about a high school band formed by some friends. Taking us all right back to the ol' high school band days! The Runarounds is created by the same creator of the other music series "Daisy Jones & The Six" from 2023. In this series, a high school band graduates and aims for fame & success in the music industry. The Runarounds (from the creator of Outer Banks) follows a group of recent high school graduates who form a band in the hopes of escaping the mundane futures that are laid out before them. As the band pursues their big break and near impossible dream over the course of a summer, they fall in love and trouble along the way. The full cast includes William Lipton, Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, Zendé Murdock, Jesse Golliher, Lilah Pate, Maximo Salas, Kelley Pereira, Marley Aliah, Mark Wystrach, Brooklyn Decker, Hayes MacArthur, and Shea Pritchard. Dream big! This looks like a very fun time with a bunch of youngsters, though it seems like a story told so many times before.
