Intense Trailer for 'The Siege at Thorn High' Indonesian Action Thriller

"Isn't it dangerous to teach there?" 🇮🇩 Amazon MGM Studios have unveiled their newest official US trailer for an Indonesian action thriller movie called The Siege at Thorn High, set for an Indonesian release starting in April. This big new production from Indonesian filmmaker Joko Anwar doesn't have a US date set yet but will hit theaters in Indonesia first, then hopefully on Prime Video not long after. In the midst of the turbulent conditions of Indonesian society in 2027 that are on the verge of collapse, Edwin faces a fight for survival when the school where he teaches suddenly turns into a life-and-death battle triggered by discrimination and racial hatred. Here, teachers must not only teach, but survive the deadly attacks of their students. Morgan Oey stars as Edwin, who tries to knock some sense into a gang of juvenile delinquents. Ultimately, this leads to an all-out school riot that spills into the streets, causing total societal breakdown. Also featuring Omara Esteghlal, Hana Malasan, Endy Arfian, and Fatih Unru. Damnnn! This looks pretty gnarly for a film about some teacher at school! I guess that's the point? Fight back and educate them.

Edwin (Morgan Oey) promised to his sister on her death bed to find her son she gave up long time ago. Edwin’s quest brings him to become a substitute teacher in Duri High School, in Jakarta, Indonesia, a school for juvenile delinquents. There he must face the most violent students to find his nephew. When he eventually finds the boy, a city-wide riot erupts and Edwin is trapped in the school with the cruel kids out for his blood. The Siege at Thorn High, also known as Pengepungan di Bukit Duri in Indonesian, is both written and directed by the acclaimed Indonesian writer / filmmaker Joko Anwar, director of many films including Joni's Promise, Dead Time, The Forbidden Door, Ritual, A Copy of My Mind, Satan's Slaves, Gundala, Impetigore, Grave Torture, and Nightmares & Daydreams previously, plus many other shorts. Produced by Joko Anwar and Tia Hasibuan. Amazon MGM will debut Anwar's The Siege at Thorn High in Indonesia cinemas starting April 17th, 2025 this spring. No final US release is set.
