Official Trailer for 'This is the Tom Green Documentary' From Canada
"Don't make a documentary about your life! It's weird, hilarious, sometimes crazy, sometimes strange, anxiety-inducing, but mostly a relief." Prime Video has revealed a trailer for a comedy doc called This is the Tom Green Documentary, which is ready for streaming this month. It hasn't played at any festivals as far as we know, and will be out for streaming on Amazon's Prime Video on January 24th - not long of a wait. We haven't heard his name in a long time! From Canada to Hollywood and back. Explore comedian Tom Green's legendary career in this autobiographical doc film. The title is a reference to his old comedy / prank show that used to open with a song called This is The Tom Green Show (it originally ran from 1994 - 2000). If you're wondering where Green went, he explains in this short trailer that he sold his home and now lives on a farm in up Canada near his hometown where he's originally from. I'm quite curious to see him reflect on his life, his comedy antics, and everything else going on in the world - check it out below.

Carey Mulligan in 'The Ballad of Wallis Island' Musical Comedy Trailer
"We'll always have this island... and your beautiful music." Focus Features has revealed the official trailer for a new British musical called The Ballad of Wallis Island, arriving in theaters this March. It's set to premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival kicking off next week in Utah, before it hits select US theaters in just a months. "He's getting the band back together." The Ballad of Wallis Island follows Charles (Tim Key), an eccentric lottery winner who lives alone on an island and dreams of getting his favorite musicians, Mortimer-McGwyer (Carey Mulligan & Tom Basden) back together. His fantasy turns into reality when the bandmates and former lovers accept his invitation to play a private show at his home on Wallis Island. Old tensions resurface as Charles tries desperately to salvage his dream gig. The three of them star together on this beautiful island in this goofy, charming, sentimental musical comedy about getting back together. Sundance adds: "actresses Carey Mulligan and Sian Clifford to come play in their sandbox, creating a tale so humorous and lovely that you'll be humming its songs long after the credits roll." This looks sweet & funny.

First Trailer for Takeshi Kitano's Comedy 'Broken Rage' Two-Part Film
"If you work with us, we'll let you off the hook." Prime Video in Japan has revealed a trailer for Broken Rage, a unique Takeshi Kitano film ready for release on streaming in the next few months. This initially premiered at the 2024 Venice Film Festival as a special selection following his 3-hour long film Kubi the year before. Broken Rage follows a hitman, Nezumi (played by Beat Talkeshi), fighting for his survival when he’s caught between the police and yakuza. But in the second half, the gritty crime-action thriller takes an unexpected turn, evolving into a self-parodying comedy that retells the same story with a very humorous touch. A two-part film. This first half is a gritty action film in a dark criminal underworld revolving around a hitman and his struggle for survival. Aside from Takeshi Kitano, this also stars Tadanobu Asano and Nao Ômori. I watched this in Venice last year and it's hilarious - I had a blast with it. The second half is full-on Three Stooges-esque slapstick comedy making fun of these yakuza thrillers and action films and how dumb it really is to portray in a film. And of course, Takeshi-san rocks this funny role and delivers heaps of laughs.

Indie Psychological Horror 'Mom' Trailer About Post-Natal Depression
"Am I a bad mother?" Uh oh. Dark Star Pictures has unveiled the official trailer for Mom, an indie horror film ready for release in February. This first premiered at FrightFest Glasgow last year - and is out on VOD in February if anyone wants to give it a look. Meredith, her husband Jared, and their young son Alex face unspeakable terror in the wake of a family tragedy. The tagline: "A mother's love never dies." Struggling with postnatal depression & feeling misunderstood by her husband, Meredith begins to experience terrifying visions foreshadowing an ultimate tragedy - ending up stuck in a nightmarish loop ruled by a malevolent force. Mom stars Emily Hampshire as Meredith, the titular "Mom" in this story, with François Arnaud, Christian Convery, Tristan D. Lalla, Cat Lemieux, and Erika Rosenbaum. This looks creepy but it also looks like another seriously underlit, uninteresting, fairly boring horror film that'll be forgotten quickly.
Quick New Promo Teaser for 'How To Train Your Dragon' Live-Action
"Dad, I can't kill dragons..." Universal Pictures has debuted another new 60-second promo teaser for their live-action How to Train Your Dragon movie, which will hit theaters in June this summer. The original HTTYD movie opened in theaters in 2010, and it was such a huge success for DreamWorks Animation they went on to make two more sequels. The story follows a young Viking boy as he aspires to help hunt dragons, and how he becomes unexpectedly a friend of a young dragon he decides to name Toothless. From the same director as the original three animated movies before - Dean DeBlois is handling this live-action one as well. In this HTTYD, Mason Thames (from The Black Phone) stars as Hiccup, Gerard Butler as Stoick, Nico Parker as Astrid, and also with Nick Frost, Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Ruth Codd, and Peter Serafinowicz, and Murray McArthur. This latest trailer is basically a recut version of the first teaser trailer with a few extra shots at the end of Toothless and Hiccup playing around. It's looking good so far, but still not sure why we need this shot-for-shot live-action remake.

End-of-the-World Romantic Thriller 'When I'm Ready' Official Trailer
"I can't believe it's really gonna happen." Briarcliff Entertainment & 19th Hole Productions have unveiled an official trailer for an indie film called When I'm Ready, a "romantic end-of-the-world thriller" from filmmaker Andrew Johnson. Set for release in February just in time for Valentine's Day - including on VOD to watch at home if you want. It's the end of the world. Seeking meaning and thrills in their last days alive, Rose and Michael embark on a cross-country road trip as a devastating asteroid threatens to wipe out life on Earth. While journeying to see her grandmother one last time before they perish, they fight to find meaning and adventure in the world's final week. Starring Andrew Ortenberg & June Schreiner as Michael & Rose, with Thalia Besson, Lauren Cohan, and Dermot Mulroney. Bryan Curtis of The Ringer also voices a radio DJ updating citizens on the progress of the asteroids as the hours tick down. This trailer plays up how crazy people would be if it was really happening, hence why it's more of a thriller. Looks quite good.

Malachi Kirby in London Boxing Series 'A Thousand Blows' Full Trailer
"This may be the bottom of the barrel, but we are going to float elegantly all the way to the top." Hulu has revealed the main official trailer for a gritty crime series called A Thousand Blows, made for Disney+ in the UK arriving for streaming in February on Hulu. 🇬🇧 The first two eps premiered at the 2024 London Film Festival last year. Created by Steven Knight, A Thousand Blows is inspired by the true-life stories of a group of characters battling for survival in the violent East End of London in the 1880s. It's about the fortunes (and challenges) of Hezekiah and Alec, two best friends newly arrived from Jamaica to the dirty & brutal streets of Victorian era London. Fighting for survival in the overwhelming melting pot of Victorian London's East End, they come up against Sugar Goodson – a dangerous, veteran boxer. The cast includes Malachi Kirby and Francis Lovehall as Hezekiah and Alec, from Jamaica, along with Erin Doherty, Stephen Graham as boxer Sugar Goodson, Jason Tobin, and James Nelson-Joyce. This looks like it might be a damn good time - especially with this cast. Malachi Kirby is having an awesome time handling this lead role.

Mickey Rourke & Shaina West in Action Thriller 'Jade' Official Trailer
"You are in so far over your head you have no idea!" Bring it on! Well Go USA has unveiled another new official trailer for Jade, an action thriller arriving on VOD starting in February. We already featured trailers for this last summer but it's just now getting a real release. It's from the same stuntman filmmaker as Hard Home and Air Force One Down. Jade follows a woman who comes between a powerful businessman and a gang leader in their search for a hard drive that could damage the operations of Interpol taking down bad guys. The woman is required to use her unique set of skills to retrieve the drive and stay alive. Introducing Shaina West starring as Jade, along with Mickey Rourke, Mark Dacascos, Katherine McNamara, Keith Jardine, Steven Michael Quezada, and Chris Bruno. This trailer focuses on the fights and her stuntwork and all the badass scenes with Jade - and I gotta say it doesn't seem so bad. This is worth a look.

Final 'Tickets on Sale' Trailer for 'Captain America: Brave New World'
"Your inner circle's been compromised. Either you can't see that or you don't want to." Opening in theaters in less than a month! Marvel has unveiled another promo trailer for the MCU sequel Captain America: Brave New World - this one announcing that tickets are on sale for the February release. From director Julius Onah comes the next Captain America evolution – Anthony Mackie stars as Sam Wilson, who has taken over as the new Cap from Steve Rogers after he retired at the end of the Avengers movies. Brave New World picks up with Harrison Ford as the US president, with the power dynamics in the world changing. After an attack, Cap is asked to join the military - but he ends up right in the middle of another international incident. The conspiracy noir side of this is still the most interesting aspect. The cast includes Giancarlo Esposito, Danny Ramirez as a young Falcon, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader, Shira Haas, Liv Tyler, Xosha Roquemore; plus an appearance by a Red Hulk, played by Harrison Ford. This still looks better than it should for the MCU – I'm hoping it will turn out to be a solid action thriller at least.
Emily Bett Rickards in Wrestling Movie 'Queen of the Ring' Full Trailer
"Why would anyone wanna limit the spectacle of competition based on gender?" The full official trailer has debuted online for a true story movie called Queen of the Ring, about one of the pioneering women pro wrestlers in the early days of wrestling. This premiered at the 2024 Buffalo Film Festival last year and has been touring around festivals - with a release set for March 2025 in a few months. This is the true story of Mildred Burke, the first ever million dollar female athlete and champion pro-wrestler who pioneered the sport in a time when all girl wrestling was banned in most of America. Emily Bett Rickards stars in this as Mildred Burke - a small town single mother who embraces the danger to change culture as she dominates America's most masculine sport to become the first million dollar female athlete in history. The ensemble cast includes Josh Lucas, Francesca Eastwood, Tyler Posey, Marie Avgeropoulos, Adam Demos, Kelli Berglund, Damaris Lewis, and others. This is an excellent trailer - packs a punch, features quite a bit of the story but just enough to get your interest and make you want to watch. It's definitely worth a look.

Raul Castillo in Twisted Scammer Revenge Thriller 'Cold Wallet' Trailer
"I don't keep passphrases just lying around!" Well Go USA has unveiled an official trailer for an indie crime thriller called Cold Wallet, the second feature from Cutter Hodierne after his indie hit Fishing Without Nets from a decade ago. This "crypto heist movie" premiered at last year's SXSW Film Festival and is being present by Steven Soderbergh. After losing everything in a cryptocurrency scam, a ragtag team of vigilante Redditors attempt to kidnap the kingpin who screwed them over. But when the home invasion takes a turn for the worst, they become victims in a sadistic game. The film stars Raul Castillo, Melonie Diaz, Tony Cavalero, Josh Brener, and Zoe Winters. Soderbergh states: "This smart, spiky, off-center take on the vigilante genre really kept me engrossed in a how-much-crazier-is-this-going-to-get way, which I love." This looks like a wacky horror riff on "Roaring Kitty" – but with a twist that this guy has some tricks of his own.

Official Trailer for Horror 'Are You There?' - A Game of 20 Questions
"Do not attempt the Are You There? challenge!" It's a bad idea - you might end up dead! Dark Sky Films has unveiled an official trailer for indie horror thriller titled Are You There?, directed by indie filmmaker Kim Noonan. It's getting a small release and will be available on VOD to watch this February if anyone is curious. Paranormal psychology student Rosa Gonzalez lights a ritual candle used to contact the dead... When she then asks, "Are You There?" she opens a door to a demonic game of 20 questions. After lighting summoning candle, it ignites a life and death game of questions to answer. As the candle melts down, so does her chance of survival. She discovers some questions are best left unanswered... Starring Laura Sollet as Rosa, plus Eva Meyerson, Madison Geiger, Mbeng Klovis, Chase Bridges, and Kay Galvin. This looks like an obvious direct-to-video genre release, but at least they tried creating a freaky game concept for this horror.
