About this ebook
It is almost unbelievable that only 118 elements make up everything in the universe.
And the 118 elements are structured in such an orderly fashion that they are made stepwise from the simplest elements by adding more protons and neutrons and orbits of electrons.
That really is the beauty and mystery of the vast universe.
How the Periodic Table of elements was developed and expanded is truly a fascinating story of science and human ingenuity.
There is certainly much to be learned from the history of science.
Periodic Table is a wonderful tool of physics and chemistry.
Indeed, it should be taught early in primary school classes to arouse the young pupils' curiosity and amazement at our understanding of our world.

All 118 Elements In The Universe? - Terry Nettle
1. Foreword
All 118 Elements In The Universe?: Atomic Map Of The World? Navigating The Periodic Table?
The Periodic Table is the atomic map of the world!
It's almost unbelievable that only 118 elements make up everything in the universe.
And the 118 elements are structured in such an orderly fashion that they are made stepwise from the simplest elements by adding more protons and neutrons and orbits of electrons.
That really is the beauty and mystery of the vast universe.
2. The Basic Science Of Atoms
The most basic element is of course hydrogen.
It has a nucleus of only one proton, with an electron orbiting in a spherical orbit around the nucleus.
A proton has one positive electrical charge while an electron has one negative charge.
So together, the hydrogen element is neutral in charge.
The next element is helium, which has 2 protons, 2 neutrons, and also 2 electrons in the orbits around the nucleus.
The nucleus of helium is also known as the alpha particle.
3. Isotopes
To these nuclei may be added any number of neutrons, an elementary particle much like a proton but has no charge.
This will give rise to any number of isotopes of these elements.
For example, deuterium is a stable isotope of hydrogen with an added neutron.
The key difference lies in their nuclear composition: deuterium has one proton and one neutron, whereas regular
