Android Cellphone Guidebook - Nathanial John Aufderhar

Disclaimer & Why I wrote this guide.

I am not affiliated with any brands, corporations, or companies mentioned in this guide.

I am writing this guide by myself; no compensation has been given to me and all the opinions are genuine and my own. Unbiased and honest.

Please think twice about printing this document since it is 375 pages.

    Save paper- select double-side print.

I wrote this self help guide in dedication to my mother Margaret and to help my dad who is retired to better his knowledge on how to use a cellphone. Bearing that in mind, I made this guide so that it would be suitable for all ages of cellphone users.

To the Tweens, middle aged people, Centenarians, and everyone else in between; Be patient with yourself- learning a new technology is difficult, don’t hesitate to reach out to friends and family to ask them as well, on the other hand- try to use this guide to help others as well.

This self-help guide is intended to help you with unlocking all your Android 13’s phone potential, with over 500 tips and tricks as well as over 250 reference images; This will be the only Android Guide you will ever need. Reference pictures will be based on a Wp21 Ultra (Android 13), and a WP22 (Android 12). This guide is intended for Android 12 and 13 versions but will work for Android 10 through Android 14 and beyond albeit there will be a few tweaks and redesigns.

    What is a cell phone?

Merriam Webster defines it as A portable usually cordless telephone for use in a cellular system.  But a cellphone means so much more and it’ll depend on who you ask.

    The Pros and Cons

The main reasons to have a cellphone is that it is a device for:

Communication with friends, family, coworkers, etc.

A lifeline which can be used to call for help such as emergency services.

    Listening to music.

    Taking pictures or videos

    Blogging about your day.

    Having a phone call.

    Navigations of all kinds.

    Recording audio, notes, or experiences.

    Making your life Convenient.

    Cons

Some Risks to having a cellphone include:

Distractions such as the alarms, notification sounds, calls, texts, messages, likes, tweets, subscribers, retweets, comments, replies, pokes. All of which can be disruptive to you regarding your concentration or disruptive to society such as in a library, a movie theater, or a silent area.

Everyone having a cellphone means that your level of privacy is severely reduced.

Getting a cellphone stolen from you or losing a cellphone can mean your finances or social life could be impacted.

Sleep deprivation as well as reduced quality of sleep. Cellphones can be addicting, and they are made to become an addiction.

Cellphone and cellphone use can cause accidents and injuries. Road accidents are usually due to speed and distracted driving [which includes cellphones]. Texting and driving kills.

Your friend will be disappointed if you text and drive.

Your parental guardians will be disappointed if you text and drive.

I will be disappointed if you text and drive.

Health issues can develop, you can develop mental disorders.

Increased crime, cyberbullying, instances of hate speech and calls to violence increase.

Most, if not all, cellphones are made through the exploitation of those assemble cellphones; From those that mine for the materials needed, to those that assemble and package your cellphone and everyone in between. (Search up cell phone forced labor.)

    Cellphone Navigation.

Now that you know what a cellphone is and the benefits as well as the detriments of a cellphone. I suppose you should learn how a cellphone works and how controls are usually oriented on a cell phone.

There are 3 integral parts on a cellphone. Touchscreen; Volume Buttons; Power button.

Other important parts include the sim card tray, the rear and front facing cameras as well as the microphones and speaker.

    Touchscreen-

Capacitive Touchscreens are found on smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices.

    Htttps://www.techtarget.com/whatis/definition/capacitive-touch-screen.

Capacitive touch screens use the conductive touch of a human finger [or a stylus] for input and control.

Volume buttons- can be used for input as well, mainly used for control of volumes. Can be used to zoom in or out while in the camera app.

SIM Card Tray- A rectangular metal or plastic ‘tray’ for your SIM card(s) [Subscriber Identity Module.] The SIM Card allows you to connect to a mobile network.

Navigation. Pick Gesture mode or 3-button Navigation. More on this later.

Microphone- usually the microphone is located at the bottom of the phone, it’ll look like a pinhole.

Power button- You can press the power button to turn off the screen and lock the phone* [*settings can be made that the power button doesn’t lock the phone]. Press and hold for 4+ seconds to pull up the power menu where you should see:

Power off- Will shut off phone completely. Helps while troubleshooting.
