This is a well-written, comprehensive guide to the Inkscape vector graphics package. It goes into a reasonable level of detail about pretty much every aspect of the program. The author is one of the Inkscape developers and is able to offer some useful insights into the thought process behind some of the interface decisions and program behaviour.
This (first) edition of the book covers Inkscape v2.47, which is still the current one at the time of this writing (June 2010). Much of the book's content will doubtless continue to be useful even as future versions of the program are released.
Physically, the book feels well produced and quite sturdy. Although I haven't yet had my copy for very long, it feels like it should stand up to fairly heavy use as a reference book. My only slight gripe is the lack of colour illustrations apart from a short (4-page) insert. However, the greyscale illustrations throughout the book are very clear and the lack of colour is not a serious problem.
