POWERFUL CONFESSIONS
TO RENEW YOUR MIND
Based on eight revelations of the character of God
How to change your thinking!
My dear friend and colleague Philip Evans has written this excellent book which is needed for our generation more than ever.
I have known Philip for nearly 30 years and I want to say that he is one of the finest Bible teachers I have heard. He is extremely thorough in his teaching and leaves no stone unturned.
This book should be read by leaders as well as all believers who want to grow to maturity in all things. I highly recommend this book and look forward to seeing many more from this mighty man of God!
Trevor Newport, International Coalition of Apostolic Leaders.
This is a wonderful book written by a man who has made it his life practice. I have always loved the covenant names of God and this book has broken them down into wonderful understandable and accessible chunks. I encourage anyone who wants to know God and his power in their lives to read this and make confession their daily practice also. Their life will never be the same again.
God bless you Philip
Kingsley Armstrong, President, International Gospel Outreach
We have known Philip and Margaret for 5 years and had the privilege of together leading a Love Wales Ministry School in North Wales. We know Philip as a man of great integrity and humility, who lives and ministers the truths in this book. He sees the miraculous and gives the glory to God. We are confident that this book will be a wonderful resource for all, grounded in the Word of God, and providing very Biblically based declarations. We know from experience the power of declarations based on the Word of God, and the intentional application of this book will be life changing!

INTRODUCTION
Various people have told me that I should write a book, and numerous ideas have passed through my mind at different times. At first, I thought that I should write about all the things I have seen in Nepal and other places on mission trips, but I had always struggled with finding the time and sometimes questioned my motives. So, although I have made a start on occasions, the whole idea was shelved until recently. Just a few months ago, I knew what I should write about, and the words flowed relatively easily, so here it is!
This book is about changing our thinking or renewing our minds, as the Bible describes it. The mind can be like a battlefield! It is where sin can be conceived or where creative ideas can be birthed. It is where anxiety and stress can get a grip or where the word of God can be processed and peace can be felt. The power and effect of what goes on in our minds cannot be over emphasized.
The message of this book has come out of the experience of life. Having struggled in so many areas, putting into practice the truths outlined in these pages has brought about a transformation, and although I know I am not what I will be. I also know that I am not what I used to be! The Bible says that we have the mind of Christ, but what does this mean and how do we make it real in our lives?
It is my prayer that everyone who reads this book will experience a transformation to become more like Christ. It is not intended to be an easy remedy for all problems but rather to be seen as part of the armor of God, given to every child of His and to be practiced on a daily basis.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I want to acknowledge all those (far too many to name) who, over many years have spoken God’s word into my life and have encouraged me in the faith.
Also to my beloved wife Margaret, whose consistent love and faithfulness have enabled us together, to fulfill the calling on our lives. Also to our dear children, Susannah and Daniel, although now grown up and making their own way in life, came with us as small children, leaving friends and a place that they were familiar with to embark on this journey of faith with us to Anglesey.
Most of all I want to acknowledge the grace and mercy of God my Father that He has shown to me from my earliest days, to Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior and to the Holy Spirit to whom belongs all credit and praise.
Chapter 1
What Is Confession?
When church people talk about confession, they often think of confessing sin. This is important, but it is not the only kind of confession that the Bible speaks of. The word confess actually means to say the same as,
so although it is important to agree with God about what sin is and how we have all fallen short of the standard that He has for us, we also need to see that, as born-again believers in Jesus Christ, we now have a new identity. It is extremely important, therefore, that we renew our minds according to the new life that we have received from Christ. God’s word is the truth, but unless we change our thinking in line with that truth, we will always be living far short of the victorious life that He has for us.
Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12:2)
As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. (Proverbs 23:7)
In Hebrew, the word for meditation can also be translated as mutter,
